A young police constable allegedly died by suicide on Wednesday at a police station in Pali district of Rajasthan. The prima facie reason for this suicide was an ongoing dispute with his wife.
Case:
Bharat Choudhary (32) was found dead after he allegedly shot himself with his service rifle at the Audyokik police station in Rajasthan’s Pali district on June 12, 2024.
According to PTI, SHO Pana Chaudhary confirmed that Bharat was on duty at around 2 am when the unfortunate incident took place. Bharat allegedly had an ongoing dispute with his wife Pinku Choudhary, who is also a constable and currently posted in the Mahila Thana in Pali.

Before ending his life, Bharat also shared details of an under construction house in their village and his mobile password with his brother Sukhdev.
As per a TOI news report, the couple got married 10-years ago, but had been living separately since 8-years.
The body was sent to the district hospital’s mortuary for post-mortem.

Victim’s Family Statement
Sukhdev informed police that disputes arose between his brother and sister-in-law 8-years ago after the birth of their daughter. Subsequently, Pinku had left her matrimonial home along with the newly born daughter and the couple had been living separately since then.
Sukhdev added:
We had also sought the intervention of Panchayat to sort the matter between both families but it did not work out. My brother’s wife was constantly harassing him for money and jewelry.

Police Action
The SHO informed media:
Suddenly we heard the sound of firing and rushed in the direction. Bharat was lying lifeless. We took him to the hospital but he was declared dead by the doctors.
A case has been filed against his wife, Pinku Choudhary and her brother Manu Choudhary, for mental harassment and abetment to suicide.
Bharat’s family, in the meanwhile, has refused to accept his body and demanded Pinku’s suspension.
