A strange case has been reported from the capital of Madhya Pradesh, which left the netizens shocked. A man from Bhopal who was merely following the rules of social distancing during COVID, maintained a distance from his newly married bride as well.
However, the woman reacted to the same strangely and approached a family court demanding divorce.
Case:
The couple got married on June 29 this year during lockdown. Immediately after the wedding, the woman’s family tested positive for COVID and the man suspected his wife to be an asymptomatic carrier of the coronavirus.
It was thus, that he maintained a distance from the woman, keeping in mind all the advisory and precautions given by various health experts and the government.
Soon, the woman left her matrimonial home and returned to her parent’s place. On December 2, nearly after five months of leaving her husband, the wife filed for divorce at the Bhopal family court. She alleged that the man never came to take her home.
The woman also approached the Legal Services Authority, seeking maintenance allowance from her “impotent” husband. She also alleged that her in-laws harassed her before she left the house. Speaking to News18, the woman said,
I had a long life to lead ahead, so I had approached the authority for seeking maintenance allowance.
Family Court
Counselling sessions were held at the family court for both the man and the woman. Since the wife had alleged impotency against husband, the man was asked to get his medical tests done.
When the certificate was submitted by the husband, the allegations by the woman were found to be false. Thereafter, the officials of the legal rights body spoke to the woman’s husband, and discovered that he was “excessively apprehensive” of catching the virus from his wife and thus maintained distance.
The family court counselled the woman and her parents, and sent the wife back home with her husband and in-laws.
