85-Year-Old Punjab Woman Beaten & Thrown Out Of Home By Daughter-in-Law Who Is Now Remarried

Yet another instance of an elderly woman being abused by her daughter-in-law has been reported from Punjab. The younger woman hired people to beat the older woman and allegedly threw her out of the home.

However, in a shocking revelation, the local cops have filed a case on the older woman instead of daughter-in-law.

Case:

85-year-old woman identified as Kulwinder Kaur, wife of late Gurmeet Singh, is a resident of Mehli, Tehsil Banga, district Martyr Bhagat Singh Nagar. The lady had two sons and both of them are now dead.

Hence, the woman had given all her property to her younger son’s daughter. After her elder son’s death, his wife got re-married to a man living in the United States. However, to claim her right on the property of her first mother-in-law, wife of the elder son forcibly made her niece stay in that house as a caretaker.

The daughter-in-law has also been allegedly threatening the older woman to transfer everything to her name, else she would get her murdered.

On November 15, the daughter-in-law also hired some people to attack Kaur with sharp weapons and subsequently, got her thrown out of the house.

Kaur had approached police alleging that her daughter-in-law had already remarried, however, she was still trying to claim her right over the property by getting her physically assaulted.

Despite this complaint from the octogenarian, the cops have filed a case under Section 107 and Section 151 against the elderly woman herself. This law deals with internal disputes between families.

Kaur has now decided to take help from Captain Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister of Punjab as well as DGP Dinkar Gupta. She has got an email sent to the two authorities, also claiming that she fears for life and can be killed due to property freud.

The news report by Punjab Kesari also claims that the cops are pressurizing both mother-in-law and daughter-in-law to compromise.
