Rajasthan Police has arrested a man for allegedly raping his own daughter’s mother-in-law. Earlier, at the behest of the accused, his daughter had lodged a case against her husband and mother-in-law, complaining of dowry harassment.
Case:
The matter pertains to the Bhupalpura police station in Udaipur district where the victim lodged a rape complaint against the accused.
In the FIR, the woman alleged that 13-months ago (in the last week of May 2021), her son’s father-in-law had come to her house to drop his daughter, which is when he stayed overnight at their place.
After the son and daughter-in-law fell asleep, the son’s father-in-law woken up suddenly at 3am, and started knocking on the door of the victim ‘faking’ stomach ache.
When the victim opened the door, her son’s father-in-law allegedly forced himself on her, raped her and took obscene photographs as well. Later, the accused threatened the victim of making the photographs viral, if she complained to anyone.
According to the FIR, the accused sent those photographs to the victim’s son demanding Rs 10 lakh. The victim also alleged that the accused wanted her son to divorce his daughter, and if he refused to do so, he would make the photographs viral.

This is when the victim approached police station and lodged the FIR.
According to SHO Bhawani Singh Rajawat, the victim is a widow, and on the basis of her complaint, the accused has been arrested and the mobile used in the incident has also been confiscated.
Background:
It is important to note the history of this family’s battle. The daughter of the accused had filed a case of dowry harassment against her husband and mother-in-law in Dungarpur police station in September 2021 – at the behest of her ‘now accused’ father. Even after registering a case of dowry harassment, the victim’s son refused to divorce her.
Now, after a lapse of 13-months, husband’s mother has filed the above rape FIR on her son’s father-in-law.
