A 28-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra died on Thursday after his former girlfriend threw acid on him.
The incident took place on Thursday evening in the Khandari area under Hari Parwat police station in Agra. The woman is said to have attacked him after she learnt that he was getting married to another woman.
Case:
Accused woman has been identified as Sonam Pandey (25), a nurse at a private hospital in Agra. Victim Devendra Kumar worked as an assistant at a pathology lab and the duo knew each other for a long time. The two were also said to be in a relationship.
On learning that Devendra was going to marry another person, Sonam was furious.
According to Agra Superintendent of Police (SP) Rohan Botre, on Thursday, she asked the man to come to her place on the pretext of fixing a fan. As Devendra arrived at her house, she attacked him with acid, he added.
The man was admitted to a hospital in Sikandra with burn injuries where he died. SP confirmed that the woman was arrested.
He added that the accused also suffered burns and was undergoing treatment at the hospital.
