Here’s What Happened
As per a report by TOI, the incident took place in Bharthana town of Etawah district on Wednesday night just before the “Jaimaal” ceremony.
Just after two pheras, the bride refused to marry her groom and left the mandap midway, alleging that this was not the groom she saw in pictures. She alleged that the man she was marrying had fair complexion.
The mother of bride-to-be claimed that everyone in her family was sure that the groom’s family, who belonged to Etawah, had shown them the photograph of someone else alleging that he (groom) was not the man they had seen in the photograph.

Police Intervenes
There were arguments between both the families for nearly six hours trying to resolve the issue, but to avail. Later, the marriage was called off.
However, the groom’s side went to Bharthana Kotwali police seeking for help. Krishna Lal Patel, SHO, Bharthana Kotwali, informed TOI,
The groom’s family alleged that the Bride’s side was not returning gifts, including jewellery items, they gave to them.
On the other side, the bride’s family refuted these allegations, and said they were ready to return the gifts, while claiming that the gifts did not include any jewellery item.

As per the SHO, the matter was settled through discussions and no complaint was lodged in connection with the incident.
Statement By Rejected Groom
Meanwhile, Ravi expressed to media how his life has been jeopardised due to the incident. He said,
The girl and her family had come to meet me several times and I do not know why they suddenly changed their mind. The incident has traumatised me.
