Over the past few decades, there has been a dramatic rise in feminist thought that weaves the narrative that men are a privileged class and women are an oppressed class. Feminism propagates the idea that men have historically enslaved women for their uses and that men enjoyed all the gifts of life at the cost of the rights and freedom of women.
The reality could not be further from the truth. Women as a class have never been oppressed, in fact, women are the real privileged class that has been served throughout the history by man. In this article, I will share with you some of the privileges of the upper class that all women belong to and the burdens borne by the enslaved class that all men belong to:
History of Mankind
The history of mankind has been a history of war. Be it war between tribes or kingdoms or nations or alliances of nations (like the two world wars), it is men who fight and die. The vast majority of the casualties of war have been men. Women, by and large, have either enjoyed prosperity when their men won wars and captured foreign wealth, or they have survived if their men lost. Women were never expected to lay down their life to protect their land.
Even today when modern armies enlist women, the number of female soldiers is far lesser (just 3.8% of the Indian Army personnel is women) and most of them are in supporting roles where their lives are not at risk.
Men, The Providers
Men are expected to support women economically, but women are not expected to support men. A man who cannot provide for his wife is looked down upon. A man who is supported by a woman is looked down upon considerably. In this way, man is a slave to woman for he provides her with no additional authority conferred upon him (in modern society) for his responsibilities.
Double Standards of Society
Humanity values beauty and purity in women, but it values strength of body and economic ability in men. This is a double standard because all women are born with purity and beauty (unless they ruin it with poor habits), but men are not born with either strength or economic ability – they have to spend years and decades to earn it.
Thus, it is fair to conclude that women are born valuable but men are born with no value at all. An 18-year-old female is the most coveted creature in the world, but an 18-year-old man is considered worthless, except in a time of war, when he is expected to fight and possibly die.
Women Have Options, Men Don’t
Women have the option to either go the career route or the traditional housewife way. Men do not have this option and are forced to go the career route only. A man never has the option of being at home and doing the housework, all women do.
A woman who fails at her career always has recourse to the traditional way, but a man who failed at his career has no such recourse and must bear his failures alone.
Faking Appearance
Women can always use make-up and photo editing to make themselves look pretty. Men do not have any such quick ways to amp up their appearance.
Unfair Division of Labour
It is men who are assigned difficult high risk work and women who are assigned easy low risk work. Back in the era of cavemen, man went out to hunt and fight wild animals. Today, men form the bulk of the workforce at oil rigs, mines, factory workers, firefighters which are high risk work. Over 90% of work related injuries occur among men.
In places that hire both men and women, male workers are assigned high risk work, while female workers are assigned low risk work.
Men Foot All Bills
Men are expected to pay at the end of a date. Women are not expected to split the bill (they may choose to do so, but they are not expected to).
What Really Is Misogyny?
To say anything women do not like is considered sexism and misogyny. On the other hand, men are freely criticised and reminded of what women expect of them. For example, to say “a woman should know how to cook” is considered sexist, but women will say “a man should earn enough to provide for me” which is not considered sexist.
In other words, traditional roles are enforced when they benefit women, but are called regressive and sexist when they benefit men.
Do Men (Equal Parent) Have Any Say In Pregnancy?
Men have no right to abort a pregnancy out of wedlock because “her body, her choice”, but once the baby is born, men have to pay child support payments to the woman. This is true even in cases where a woman will take a used condom out of the trash and intentionally impregnate herself without the knowledge of the man (this is often done by destitute women to secure child support payments).
Women Are Innocent Till Proven Guilty, Men Are Guilty Till Proven Innocent
When an accusation of a crime is made by a woman upon a man, the man is presumed to be guilty and women are presumed to be innocent. Women are granted the benefits of victimhood by default and men are almost always ruined.
Draconian Rape Laws
Under Indian law, a woman can accuse a man of rape, but a man cannot accuse a woman of rape (the legal definition of rape only defines the crime to be committed by a man).
If a woman was to catch and tie up a man and forcefully have sex with him, she is not legally a rapist. A man has no legal recourse in such a situation. If the same happens to a woman, the man will be hanged.
False Rape
If a woman falsely accuses a man of rape, the man’s reputation is ruined forever. He will be fired from his job, expelled from university, he will lose his friends and face many years in prison. Even if he manages to prove that the accusation was false after years of battling in court, the woman will walk away unscratched. There are no specific laws against false rape acquisitions.
Advantage Women
A woman can attack a man, but a man who hits a woman, even in self-defence is considered a savage. In fact, men are taught to never lay a hand on a woman, but women are not taught the same. In the same way, men are frequently told to “respect women” but women are never told to “respect men”.
Do Women Marry Men Who Earn Lesser Than Them?
It is considered normal for a woman to marry a man who earns a multiple of her income. Most women will explicitly refuse to marry a man who makes less money than her. Such a demand is not considered sexist, but just a right of the female. A man who says he will only marry a woman who makes more money than him is laughed at.
Protection At Workplace
Women are legally protected against sexual harassment at the workplace. In most countries (including India), men do not have any such protections.
Sexism Is Not Just One Way
Women are allowed to have standards of men which they do in the form of income, height, personality, fitness, education, etc. On the other hand, men are expected to consider all women as special. Any standards by men are considered sexism.
‘Women Only’ Please
There are gyms where only women are allowed. There are women’s only compartments in local trains. Buses have reserved seats for women. No such facilities exist for men.
Which Groups Protect Men?
There are many taxpayer funded organizations that work for the promotion of women as a group. There are several women’s protection groups and women empowerment departments. No such organizations exist for men.
Men Are Privileged, Really?
Men are often told that they are privileged because most of the people at the top of business and politics are men. They never mention that most of the people at the bottom are men too. Men form 84% of the workforce in the mining industry, 83% in construction, 76% in electricity, gas, water, and waste services, and 74% in manufacturing.
Women’s organizations will often highlight that men outnumber women in corporate jobs, but they never talk about non-corporate manual jobs that form the bulk of the world’s labour force.
Unequal Standards
If women were judged by the same standards women judge men (height, fitness, income), most women would be considered failures.
And finally…
Rights For Women, Responsibilities For Men
Man is still expected to provide for his household and take care of his woman. Women are not expected to take care of the house, cook, or even take care of children. Men have all the responsibility and none of the authority that comes with it, while women have all the rights but none of the responsibility.
This makes male class a slave to the female class and this has always been the case. The slave class (man) is expected to protect, provide, and do all of the hard work that society needs, while the upper class (women) receive protection, rights, and live much easier lives than men.
Just like any other aristocracy, women have always enjoyed an easier life than the commoners, and the idea that women have been oppressed in any way is a distortion of fact designed to serve only one purpose: to make the aristocracy even more powerful.
