A suicide had been reported from Kundapur in Udipi district of Karnataka four days ago. However, the police has now concluded the death of the man as murder.
Five people, including wife of the deceased, and two minors have been arrested by Shankernarayana Police station of Byndoor Taluk.
Case:
The deceased has been identified as Nagaraj (36), a resident of Amaparu Moodbage. The arrested people have been identified as Mamatha (34), wife of Nagraj and her two friends Kumar and Dinakar. Two minors have been sent to the remand home.
On October 18 night Nagaraj’s wife Mamatha filed a complaint in the Shankernarayana Police station informing that Naragraj had died by suicide as he hanged himself. She accused him of being an alcoholic which led to him ending his life. Based on her complaint, the police had registered a case of suicide.
Murder, Not Suicide
After receiving the news of Nagaraj’s death, his sister arrived from Shivamogga and found wounds on his neck and other parts of the body. The sister then filed a complaint suspecting murder.
Based on the complaint filed by Nagaraj’s sister, the Shankaranarayana Police arrested Mamatha and her two friends Kumar and Dinakar. Two minors involved in the case have been sent to the remand home.
The main reason suspected for murder is family dispute and illicit relationship. Shankaranarayana Police is currently investigating the case.
#HusbandMurder – especially due to adultery – is most common, however, goes unrecorded in India. We outrage, demand change in laws overnight, even if one wife murder is reported on any given day. However, when it comes to women murdering their husbands, we often look at those cases in isolation and mere statistics of any other murder.
