Haryana Women Cell Chief Backs Sonali Phogat For Slapping Govt Employee

On Saturday, a video went viral on social media where BJP leader from Haryana, Sonali Phogat was seen slapping a government employee. Phogat who is popularly known as Tik Tok star later alleged that it was the man who initially abused her after which she decided to beat him up in public view.

Sultan Singh, secretary of Hisar Market Committee on the other hand, pleaded to be rescued from these false accusations and said how he was already suicidal with the pressure of working in lockdown and now these baseless allegations. Watch Video at the end of the article.

Subsequently, counter FIRs had been filed on both Phogat and Singh by the police.

Now, Haryana Women’s Commission has come forward to support Phogat despite the video thrashing Sultan Singh that went viral. Haryana Women’s Commission Chairperson Pratibha Suman has also said,

Anyone who will hurt the honour of a woman, will be beaten up again and again.

The chairperson said that she initially saw Sonali Phogat’s video and thought Phogat was wrong, however, when she was apprised of the incident in totality, she justified Sonali’s actions. Suman also said she had been given to hear an audio of Sultan Singh, where he abused Sonali prior to being beaten up. Suman had visited PWD Rest House (Hisar) to discuss the matter.

According to the Haryana Women’s Commission, they have gathered all information and discussed subsequent legal consequences from District Superintendent of Police Gangaram Poonia in Phogat’s case. Suman had also called for the District Superintendent of Police to hear the audio himself.

As alleged by Women’s Commission Chairperson, Singh has used very vulgar language about Phogat in the audio. Suman also said that this audio had Singh expressing such obscene language which they cannot allow anyone else to hear.

Pratibha Suman further said that they will also hear Singh’s side in this matter, investigation will be done on the basis of facts and further action will be decided on the same basis.

One must note that several BJP supporters had openly criticised Phogat for her inhumane actions on the man after watching the video. Infact, BJP Spokesperson Shazia Ilmi had also tweeted that it did not matter whether Phogat belonged to BJP or any other party, her actions were shameful and condemnable.

However, now since party’s women cell has intervened, it seems Phogat may be cleared soon from the controversy. On the other hand in the absence of Men’s Commission or Ministry for Men, we wonder what will be the fate of Sultan Singh. One must also note that while Phogat’s actions have been captured and seen on camera, Singh’s audio has not been heard by anyone yet.
