A 21-year-old woman poisoned her husband and for reassuring if he had died, also stabbed him later. On Tuesday, the evening of July 14, wife Umiya Patel, allegedly killed her husband by poisoning him and stabbing him to death in the Gandhinagar locality of Gujarat.
The husband was identified as 23-year-old Vakji Patel. At the early stage of the investigation, she informed the police that her husband had poisoned himself before she stabbed him. However, Mayur Chavda, SP Gandhinagar, during interrogation learnt that it appeared the wife had poisoned him and later stabbed him, as the poison was not effective enough.

SP Chavda said the accused was sent for a pre-arrest COVID test. The couple got married two years ago, however, they did not like each other, said Inspector Amarsingh Chauhan from Sector 21 police station. He also said that they would stay together occasionally. Chauhan quoted,
The woman lived at her parent’s house at Mangrol village in Tharad taluka of Banashantha district. They would occasionally stay together at the house of Vakji’s father, Narbhat Patel, in Tharad. Vakji, who had passed class XII, worked at a printing press owned by one Bashram Patel in Gandhinagar. For the last few days, the couple was staying at a rented house in Gandhinagar.

An FIR had been lodged by the victim’s father on Tuesday night. According to him, Umiya’s father, Premabhai, had called him and told him that Umiya informed her parents suggesting something had happened to Vakji and he was unable to speak.
Police sources said the family then contacted a relative in the police, Jebhai Patel, and asked him to go to Vakji’s house while they left for Gandhinagar. An official told media,
According to the FIR, when they reached Vakji’s house, they saw policemen there and Vakji’s body in a pool of blood on the floor of the house. Umiya was sitting on the staircase weeping.
