We come across several stories daily from different parts of the country where Men are facing domestic abuse. However, this case reported from Ghaziabad is not just shocking but also beyond imagination.
A man from Uttar Pradesh has accused his wife of spiking his food with menstrual blood. A four-member medical team has been formed to investigate allegations levelled by the man.
Case:
On June 12 last year, the Ghaziabad resident had lodged a complaint against his wife and her parents, saying that he had contracted infection after having the food mixed with her menstrual blood. He had also submitted medical reports to buttress his claims.
Following the complaint, an FIR was registered at Kavi Nagar police station against the man’s wife and her family members under:
- Section 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc, with intent to commit an offence)
- Section 120B (criminal conspiracy)
…of the IPC.
The man had then claimed that when he fell ill after having the spiked food, he got a medical test done. He said the test confirmed he had an inflammation in the body because of an infection.
Background:
The couple got married in 2015 and have a son. According to the complaint lodged by the man, his wife would repeatedly ask him to live separately from his parents, but he would not agree. This would lead to fights between them, often on trivial issues.
The woman’s parents and her brother, he alleged, had been prodding her to “poison” his food and use “various forms of witchcraft” against him. Fed up with the daily fights, the man’s parents left his house and went to live with relatives, the complaint said.
After his parents left the house, the man’s wife allegedly mixed menstrual blood with his food and gave him for dinner. Asked how he came to know about this, the man claimed he had chanced upon a recorded phone conversation between his wife and her mother.
The man said he then wrote to the district administration and requested that an FIR be lodged. After an investigation for over a year, police wrote to the chief medical officer and urged him to form a medical board in the case.
A senior health department official said the medical panel would go through the test reports submitted by the man and investigate if the allegations levelled by him are true or not. The medical board, the official said, has a general physician, a gynaecologist, a pathologist and an orthopaedic surgeon.
