A 40-year-old man from Thane near Mumbai, had to spend three-months in jail for allegedly raping his 42-year-old maid. He was granted bail after his mother moved court claiming that her son was falsely implicated.
Case:
The alleged accused man is an MBA and worked as an assistant sales manager with a multinational firm. He has lost his job due to this ongoing criminal case, which according to him is false.
The victim alleged that the man at whose place she worked as domestic help had raped her on July 31. She had worked at the accused’s residence for a year and on August 8, she filed a complaint against the man.
The next day, cops came home and arrested him from his residence on charges of rape.

The man’s mother later submitted a CCTV footage dated July 31 — date of alleged incident — in court and argued that she was very much at home on that day. The victim in her statement had informed police that she was raped, when the accused’s mother was not at home.
While the man has been given bail, he had to spend 3-months behind bars. He image and reputation has been tarnished at the cost of losing his job with an MNC.
There is no compensation for men in India if serious criminal charges against them are proved to be false. This case also raises questions on the process followed before arresting a man under rape charges. What about the medical report if the woman claimed to be rape? Is mere word of a woman enough to pick up any man and jail him?
