Women are the biggest enemies of each other. Time and again we have written how filing false cases or giving threats to do the same, have diluted the seriousness of heinous crime charges, while the false accuser women merely walk away with no punishment.
In a recent report from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, a woman allegedly threatened the staff of a shopping mall of filing a false rape complaint against them when asked to pay the bill for her purchase.
The incident took place in the mall at Patrapada on Thursday evening, when the woman had gone shopping with a a male companion and a child. She selected:
- Four sarees
- A purse
- A lady’s dress
…worth over Rs 50,000, according to sources. Later at the billing counter, she reportedly told the cashier and other staff that she was a friend of one of the partners of the shop and the bill has already been paid.

However, as the staff refused to believe her and demanded that she made the payment, it led to a heated argument. During the argument between the two, the woman threatened the employees that she would file a rape complaint against them if they insisted on her paying the bill. One of the employees of the store said,
When she entered the shop, she enquired about Ajay Satpathy Sir, who was a former business partner of our owner. She then picked four sarees, a purse and a ladies’ dress. At the billing counter, she asked for the bill. Our staff said they couldn’t produce the bill without it being paid.
She then said she has already paid it to Ajay Sir and asked us to take it from him. When we expressed our inability to generate the bill under the circumstances, she snatched the bags and threatened to file a rape complaint against our staff.
The woman later rushed out of the mall in an SUV, although the mall staff noted down her vehicle number. Later, the mall authorities filed a complaint at Tomando police station.
Sources said the accused is a habitual offender and was in news earlier for same reasons. Men’s Day Out feels most likely she may be punished for not paying the bill, but not for threats of #FalseRape Case
Several such cases get reported almost on a daily basis across India. In another case reported from Gurugram last year, the police had arrested a woman for allegedly threatening a city-based businessman after implicating him in a false rape case and demanding Rs 40 lakh to let him off.
