Domestic Violence on Husbands is real. Not just mental harassment, daily taunts and abusive language, but many wives are also using physical violence to torture or retort to their husbands.
Often, such stories garner ‘laughter’ emojis on social media, because our society thinks men who get beaten up are losers and people to be mocked upon!
Case:
In a recent case reported from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Anil Pandya who is a resident of Naroda, Devnandan Sankalp City, filed a complaint with local police from the Civil hospital on Thursday. Anil has accused his 26-year-old wife Priya Pandya of biting his right thumb and injuring his forehead with a saansi (kitchen tongs).
Naroda police has registered a complaint and started investigating the matter.
Anil married Priya four-years ago and the couple has a three-year old daughter. According to the husband, on Wednesday night, wife served stale food to him and their child. When he objected to the same and asked her why did she not cook fresh meal, Priya told him that she had gone out and dined at a hotel.

This incident started an argument between the two, and the wife allegedly bit Anil hard and injured him. The husband was bleeding profusely, which is when he dialed 108 for ambulance. Anil was then transferred to the Civil hospital at Asarwa for treatment.
In the above case, one may argue the angle of patriarchy, where the husband expected his wife to serve him fresh food. One can also counter argue that while the man toils to support his family, he is justified to expect a good meal at the end of the day.
Whatever the situation and understanding remains between every couple, getting physically violent is a complete no. In most of these cases, police either calls this aapsi/gharelu maamla (personal/family matter) and the woman is let free. Whenever the genders are reversed, husband is first arrested and investigation begins later.
