A gang of con women who married men to rob their money and valuables were held by Ahmedabad crime branch in the first week of September. The investigating official has informed that two members of the said gang have been arrested as of now.
A case of cheating and betrayal had already been registered against both of them in the year 2019 at Ahor police station in Jalore district of Rajasthan. These two were the same women who have been absconding since then.
The two con women have been identified as Lakshmi Prajapati (40), a resident of Vejalpur, and Vidya alias Vijaya Patel (41), a resident of Vivekanandanagar. These two have been members of a gang that would allegedly trap unmarried men by getting them married, steal money and run away after a few days.
According to the squad of Crime Branch PI RS Suvera and PSI YG Gurjar, these two women were nabbed from Lalgabi circle of the Vatva GIDC police station area. Lakshmi is originally from Andor village in Sirohi district of Rajasthan. She lives in front of Bootbawani Chandramouli School in Vejalpur.
During interrogation, the women confessed that they had conned and robbed a man of Ahor village in the same way in 2019. The young man, identified as Amaram Prajapati (21), married one of the woman by paying her Rs 2.5 lakh. However, the con bride disappeared from the marital home after a few days, which is when the man filed a complaint against her. Since then, the group has been hiding from law and order authorities.
