Last month, an army officer, in the rank of Colonel, posted at the Central Ordnance Depot (COD) in Kanpur, was arrested for allegedly raping his friend’s Russian wife at the officer’s mess in the Cantonment area after sedating the husband.
Allegations by Woman:
According to the woman’s husband, his friend Col Neeraj Gehlot, invited him and his Russian wife for dinner at his place. They agreed and went to Kanpur from Lucknow on December 10.
Superintendent of Police Raj Kumar Agarwal then quoted,
After shopping in the day, they went to the Colonel’s official bungalow in COD where the latter offered him a drink laced with sedatives. Soon after consuming it, he became unconscious.
The Colonel then dragged his friend’s wife to another room and tried to force himself on her. She pushed him away and shouted, but he brutally assaulted her. The woman lost her consciousness.
The woman then narrated her ordeal to her husband when he regained consciousness. The husband accompanied her to the Cantonment police station after four days to file a complaint. He told police that his wife was a Russian and had been living in India for the past 10-years. The police officer confirmed that the woman had been sent for a medical examination.
Police also produced the woman before a magistrate the next day while colonel was on the run. Subsequently the accused was arrested on December 15.
Men’s Day Out is now putting out the other side of story which has been shared by Col Neeraj Gehlot’s niece, Roop Chaudhary. Roop has narrated their version of the incident which is quoted as follows:
According to the complainant, she was raped on December 10 and instead of filing an FIR on the same day, the couple started demanding money from my uncle on December 11. When the negotiations did not work out between them, the couple reached our home in Lucknow and started negotiating for money with my aged grandparents. When nothing between December 12 & 13, the couple went ahead and lodged an FIR of rape against my uncle.
The complainant’s medical examination was done only after 4-days of the alleged rape and her testimony was recorded in front of the magistrate after 5-days of the alleged incident. The couple also stated that their 9-year-old son even recorded the act instead of intervening and saving mother, however, they now claim that the videos have been deleted because they were too embarrassing. There is no medical evidence that the rape actually happened.
Two mobile phones and laptop were stolen from my uncle’s home on that night, which have been recovered from the complainant couple in front of officers and we have electronic evidence for the same. They are still maintaining that the rape has happened.
On January 8, my uncle’s bail was rejected solely on the testimony of the woman. We have many witnesses who claimed that it was the couple who had been fighting amongst themselves that night and they had no issues with my uncle. All allegations have been only made to extort money from our family.
They have put an innocent man in jail, tarnished our image and troubled every member of our family. It took me many days to come here and put this video out.
I request media to help us in this fight as we have enough proof. Their side of the story is just a story with no evidence and no weight. Please see the evidences we have.
My uncle is innocent with a track record of 26-years in the army. He became Colonel on December 10 and instead of spending time with his family or celebrating his daughter’s birthday on January 19, he is in jail. He doesn’t deserve to be there.
My naana (grandfather) is an 84-year-old war veteran who is a heart patient and my naani (grandmother) is 74-year-old diabetic woman. We will be eternally grateful to anyone who can actually help us. We are moving a bail application again.
This is a false case and we have suffered a lot in the past one month. I have seen great things come out through social media. Its a humble request to please help us.
Since the matter is subjudice, Men’s Day Out is not judging either sides, however, putting out version of the man’s family.
