Kodungaiyur police in Tamil Nadu registered a case against DMK spokesman Tamilan Prasanna after his wife ended her life in North Chennai on Tuesday. The case was registered against husband, basis a complaint filed by his father-in-law.
Case:
Prasanna is ruling party DMK’s spokesperson and participates regularly in TV debates. He is a lawyer by profession and also the state joint secretary of the public relations wing of DMK.
Nadhiya, (35), wife of of Tamilan Prasanna, died by suicide by hanging at her residence. Police sources said Nadhiya was found hanging from the ceiling of the fan at her house.
On receiving information, the police rushed to the spot, removed her body & sent the same to the Government hospital for post mortem.
Police Investigation
As per preliminary inquiries, Nadhiya had wanted her husband to celebrate her birthday (Tuesday) in a grand way. But Prasanna was against celebrating the birthday due to the prevailing Covid-19 situation. So he told her that they would celebrate her birthday in a grand way next year. A quarrel broke out between the couple on this issue on Monday night.
Nadhiya went to her bedroom and locked herself from inside. As her bedroom remained closed till late in the morning, Prasanna knocked on the door. He broke open the door and found her hanging from the ceiling, police said quoting Prasanna.
Case Registered Against Husband
Kodungaiyur police have registered a case and were questioning Prasanna in this connection. The complaint has been filed by Nadhiya’s father Ravi.
