A shocking and strange incident has been reported from Uttar Pradesh where a woman allegedly took her lover to Australia, but on her husband’s forged passport. However, the lockdown turned out to be a spoiler for this couple and the forgery was revealed soon.
Here’s What Happened
46-year-old husband has been working in Mumbai for past 20-years while his wife, 36, lives in Pilibhit, UP. The man used to visit his wife periodically while she looked after their ancestral land and farm house in the village.
While the husband lived away for work, his wife developed an illicit relationship with a 36- year-old man identified as Sandeep Singh who lived in the same village. The duo planned a trip to Australia in January this year, where one of the children of the woman is based for education. Wife and her paramour had planned to return to India in March, however, due to unforeseen global lockdown announced during that time, their plans were ruined.
Due to international flights being suspended to and fro from India, the couple got stuck in Australia and could only return on August 24, after nearly eight months. In the interim, the husband managed to reach his village on May 18 and learnt that his wife was missing from home. He also learnt from Sandeep’s family that they had gone to Australia together.
What came as a shocker for the man was, Sandeep had forged husband’s name and acquired a new passport. The man then registered an official complaint with the police against his wife and Sandeep. In his complaint he stated,
When I returned to Pilibhit on May 18, my wife was not at home. I came to know from Sandeep’s family that both had gone to Australia. To find out whether Sandeep forged documents to obtain a passport in my name to visit Australia, I purposely applied for a passport on August 24 at the Bareilly-based passport office.

Husband says he was certain that the accused duo had applied for a passport using his identity. He added,
My suspicion came true when the passport authorities to my shock, told me that they had indeed used my name, and made a new passport on February 2, 2019. They both presented fake documents to apply for a new passport and they received the same as well!
Police Investigation
Taking note of the seriousness in the matter, Superintendent of Police, Jay Prakash Yadav, ordered an investigation under Local Intelligence Unit (LIU). On basis of the husband’s statement, an FIR had already been registered.
Police mentioned that the investigation is still going on. They are trying to figure out who made the fake passports. They have also interrogated the fraudster woman and her lover in detail. The cops have been thoroughly investigating the case and disclosed that the passport was indeed issued in Bareilly.
When Australia was under quarantine and lockdown, the couple was stuck there and could not return. SP Yadav exclaimed,
Despite identity-checks at multiple levels, how can a passport be issued on the complainant’s name! This would be the main focus of the case under LIU inspector Kanchan Rawat and Gajraula police.
