WATCH OTHER SIDE | Wife Alleges DV, Dowry Harassment; Husband Alleges Attempt To Murder After He Learnt Of Her Affair

We came across one-sided story by wife from Uttar Pradesh, where she and and her father went on record to a local media channel alleging domestic violence by husband and in-laws. As always, MDO refrains from passing judgements on who is right or who is wrong in the matter. We are now presenting the other side – the Husband’s version. 

Wife’s Side

A lady named Dolly alleges dowry harassment and domestic violence from her husband and in-laws. She says she got married in April 2021 and is 6-months pregnant. Her father also joins in and says his son-in-law keeps his daughter hungry for days. He further alleges that the son-in-law insisted of moving out of their matrimonial home and live on rent, but instead, it was him (wife’s father) who insisted that his daughter should remain with her mother-in-law. 

Next day, son-in-law took his wife to his place and bought liquor. According to them, after consumption, he started vomiting in his room. The woman says that she kept asking her husband, about what did he eat, however, he was not replying. She said that her in-laws called villagers and blamed her of poisoning him. While the neighbours then rushed her husband to the hospital, her in-laws allegedly locked her up in the same room where her husband had vomited. 

The wife says, that she then approached police, however, did not receive any help. She also accuses her husband of not being ready to accept the child, and allegedly asking me her to get Gender check up and also abort the same. 

Husband’s Side

Husband Vinay confirms that they got married on April 28, 2021. He quotes,

Within 10-15 days she started throwing tantrums and would remain busy over the phone through the day. I even kept asking her who she was speaking/chatting with all the time, which is when she fought and went to her parental home. 

My in-laws then registered false FIR (498A) against me and forcefully made me sign on some papers. Later, my wife insisted that she wanted to stay with me wherever I stayed. I was working at a hospital and asked her if she wanted to stay there. But again, after a day, she asked me to bring her back home.

While we were returning, she requested me to stop the bike as she was feeling uneasy in her stomach. She then went and purchased cold drinks for us, which we both consumed. When we reached home, I was completely down and started vomiting. My neighbours immediately rushed me to a nearby hospital. In the meantime, she called up few people from her home, who came and threatened my younger sister. 

She then left home with nearly Rs 8 lakh jewelry and Rs 1 lakh cash. 

Deepika Bhardwaj, independent journalist, shared this case and wrote,

Vinay’s wife was 11 weeks pregnant on 8 July 2021 tho he got married on April 28, 2021. When he objected to her talking to another man all time, she filed dowry, domestic violence case on him. She fled with 9Lac worth stuff from him home but @Uppolice @kannaujpolice not listening

She gave him some poison in a drink when he was bringing her back hTOome after a fight. He had to be hospitalized & while his family was in hospital, she & her relatives allegedly decamped all jewellery & cash from home & left. But police booked him under #498A Sad @Uppolice

MDO reached out to Ms Indu Subhash,  Centre for Men’s Rights Protection, Uttar Pradesh, who informed us that the parents of husband had reached out to her for help, when they had been burdened with false cases. Ms Indu tells us, that despite the man having confirmed medical records of poisoning, no action has been taken against the accused wife and her family yet. She said,

I have reached out to the DGP and other officials in the matter. If Vinay Kumar would be Vinay Kumari, by now the in-laws would have been in jail.
