Bengaluru Cab Driver Files Complaint Against Sanjjanaa Galrani For Allegedly Abusing Him & Threatening False Kidnap Case

Kannada actress Sanjjanaa Galrani, who was arrested in the Sandalwood drug racket case last year, is once again in the news. A cab driver in Bengaluru filed a complaint against Sanjjanaa accusing her of abusing him when he didn’t turn on the air-conditioner in the cab.

The cab driver was heard saying that switching on AC was against the COVID-19 protocols of Karnataka. At the same time, Sanjjanaa alleged that she was harassed by the cabbie. 

Here’s What Happened

While travelling in the cab, Sanjjanaa had asked the driver to switch on the AC. However, the driver said the same was against the COVID-19 protocols of Karnataka. There was an altercation between the two and the cab driver accused the actor of abusing him.

Complaint Filed By Cab Driver

In his complaint the cab driver said,

She sat in the vehicle and asked me to switch on the air-conditioner. I refused to switch it on as per the COVID-19 guidelines of the government. However, she insisted that I should switch it on and I put it at level 1.

Explaining the incident, he further added,

The actress increased it to level 4 and abused me. She also threatened to file a kidnapping case against me and to carry on a campaign against me on social media platforms. I have taken up the matter with the Karnataka Drivers Federation.

Sanjjanaa’s Side of the Story

The actress stated that she was the one harassed by the driver and he didn’t mention anything about COVID-19 protocols to her. Meanwhile, Sanjjanaa reacted to the entire episode and said,

After all, can I challenge a cab driver? I will never go so low. So many women are insulted and off boarded by cab drivers in spite of paying the full fare. I refuse to be that woman. It’s my right as a customer to ask for good service. The charges made by the cab driver are simply no more than stories.

Taking to social media, Sanjjanaa shared her version of the story with the caption ‘Conclusion’ and wrote a long note. The note read:

Initially the driver said he wouldn’t turn on the AC at all and he was rude and harsh. Then he was yelling at us. He never used the words ‘covid rules’ nor were any Covid rules were to us in writing. I am paying for an AC car and it is a customer’s right to ask for the air-conditioning to be switched on.

Adding further she wrote,

I didn’t utter a single abuse. I just asked him whether he would behave in the same way with his mother or sister in such a situation.

The actress also accused the cab driver of saying that he would charge twice the meter reading as she further wrote,

I asked him if he would then demand Rs 10,000. I spoke strongly only because he was very arrogant and forcing us to off board at the wrong address. I called the cops at 10:30 am on the phone and informed them that the driver was not stopping the car and is taking us round and round, deliberately increasing the meter reading, and not cooperating to take me to the right address.

According to her, the driver stopped the car only after she called the police. Sanjjanaa concluded her note by writing,

I respect the pain of the labour class people. But enough is enough. I cannot take any fake stories against me anymore.

Rajarajeshwarinagar police are now investigating the complaint.
