A 21-year-old man was murdered in Tamil Nadu by the family of his girlfriend over an alleged affair. Four people have been arrested in the Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu in the matter.
Case:
Bharathiraja (21) hailed from Pudupatti near Natham in Dindigul district. He had studied catering and worked at a private hotel in Sirumalai. The young man was in love with a girl named Parameswari (20), from Mullai Nagar, Moongilpatti in Tamil Nadu. They had been in a relationship for the last five years.
When the Parameswari’s family learnt about her relationship with Bharathiraja, they decided to marry her off to someone else. Soon Parameswari informed Bharathiraja about her marriage, and the latter, along with two of his friends, went to Parameswari’s residence on Monday.
On seeing Bharatiraja outside their residence, Parameswari’s parents, brother Malaichamy and relatives got involved in an argument with Bharathiraja, as reported by India Today. Malaichamy got enraged, picked up a stone and started attacking Bharathiraja.
The young man, who was seriously injured in the fight, was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, he died before he could reach the hospital.
Investigation
Natham police were informed about the incident. They rushed to the spot, seized the body and sent it to the Natham Government Hospital for postmortem.
Sethurajan, the father of Bharathiraja, alleged his son’s killing was planned by Parameswari’s family. He further informed police that his son Bharathiraja was asked to come to Natham where he was beaten to death. Sethurajan said,
We demand that necessary action be taken against those involved in my son’s killing.
Police have arrested Parameswari’s parents Rasu (63), Alakunachi (58), brothers Malaichamy (33) and Balakumar (28) and produced them before Natham Court and remanded them in custody.
Sadly, these stories are often missed out by mainstream or digital media, those who write endless blogs on death of a woman. As a society, we must blame ourselves for such gender biased media coverage, because ultimately it is all about viewership, TRPs and page visits – which a death of a man does not sadly generate.
