This Supreme Court judgement pertains to March 2021 where the top court rejected a woman’s plea to live with her husband 14-years after she deserted him. The woman had also slapped false dowry harassment charges against her husband and his relatives, basis which the trial court and the high court had granted the man divorce.
Case:
The woman had left her matrimonial home in 2007 soon after the man started losing his vision. Later, when he filed for divorce, she slapped dowry harassment charges against him and his sister.

A bench of Justices R F Nariman and B R Gavai brushed aside the woman’s counsel Dushyant Parashar’s plea for quashing the decree of divorce and her desire to live with him, reported TOI. The bench said,
Marriage works with two hands, not one. After 14 years of separation, you want to try your hand at matrimony with the same man whom you deserted?
The bench did not find merit in the woman’s plea for quashing of the divorce decree. Parashar said the alimony of Rs 10,000 per month for the woman and her 18-year-old daughter was insufficient to make ends meet. He argued that the woman now wanted Rs 35,000 per month to meet the growing needs of the child’s education.
When Parashar said the woman was also worried as to who would bear the expenses of her daughter’s marriage. Refusing the woman’s plea of coming back to her husband, the bench said,
