As per a recent report published by The Indian Express, a lieutenant-colonel in Delhi has accused his wife of assaulting him with a golf club. He claimed that she allegedly did so because he refused to give her money to buy a luxury car.
DCP (south-west district) Ingit Pratap said an FIR was lodged at Delhi Cantonment police station under IPC section 325 (voluntarily causing hurt) on May 6 based on a complaint by the Lt-Col.
Case:
According to the FIR, the alleged incident took place on February 12 at their home in the capital.
As reported by Daily Pioneer, Lt-Col Ramandeep Singh alleged that his wife R Mahajan tried to hit him on his head with a golf stick and punched him over an issue related to the purchase of a luxury car. He quoted,
When she hit me with a golf stick lying in the room, I tried to protect my head with my right hand. Luckily, because of this evasive action I did not sustain any injury on my head.
According to police, the complainant has claimed his wife then left home, while he went to hospital where doctors diagnosed that he had suffered a metacarpal fracture on his right hand. A medico-legal case was registered by the Army Base Hospital authorities. Singh said,
Then she left the house with the children in a fit of rage. Later I drove myself to the hospital where the doctors diagnosed that I had suffered a metacarpal fracture on my right hand. A medico-legal case was registered by the Army Base Hospital authorities.
Lt-Col also claimed that his wife is short tempered and alleged that this was not the first time that she behaved like this. He accused his wife of getting physically aggressive and rude with him in the past as well. Singh claims to have video evidence and recordings of the same too. He stated,
Till date my wife, who left for her parental home in Punjab, has not returned and she is threatening me with dire consequences and false implication in a case.
Singh’s wife Mahajan is an Associate Professor at the Indian Institute of Architecture and Design, Okhla. The couple has been married for the last 16 years.
