In a tragic case reported from the capital, a 41-year-old man allegedly died by suicide at his Dwarka home on Friday. He has also left behind a suicide note alleging that a woman and her father had lodged a false rape case against him.
Case:
On Friday, the victim identified as Deepak Sangwan shot himself in the neck around 4 pm. Couple of days later on Sunday, his family alleged he had been facing financial issues and was also being harassed. No arrests have been made so far.
Sangwan was differently abled person and worked as a financial consultant from his home. An FIR was registered on the complaint of his mother Chhota (65). According to the police, Sangwan died during treatment. A case under the Arms Act has been filed against unknown persons.
Police has also recovered a suicide note from Sangwan’s room in which he named a woman Divyanshi and her father Anand Dutta and accused them of taking Rs 2 lakh from him and not returning the money. DCP (Dwarka) Santosh Kumar Meena said they will question the woman and others.
As per the FIR, he claimed in the note that when he asked for his money, the woman’s father threatened to file a false case against him. When he complained against them over a bounced cheque, she allegedly filed a false rape complaint against him on March 11 and Deepak ended his life a day later.
As reported by Deepika Bhardwaj, independent journalist,
In his suicide note, Deepak alleges both Divyanshi & her father Anand Dutta constantly threatened him of #falserape case saying they have done it with many & refused to return his money. Divyanshi eventually got a rape case registered on 11th March. Deepak killed himself on 12th.
No action has been taken yet by @DelhiPolice @CPDelhi @DCPDwarka against the said woman. I am told by the family police hasn’t even registered an FIR under 306 against the accused.
