Slumdog Millionair actor Madhur Mittal has been charged with sexual assault allegations and an FIR filed against him by his former girlfriend in Mumbai. The actor who is currently shooting in Jaipur, Rajasthan has decided to break his silence on the matter.
The actor claimed that he is learning about things that are untrue and it is ‘extremely disturbing’ for him.

…has been filed against him on February 23 at Mumbai’s Khar Police station.
Reacting to the turn of events, Madhur told Bombay Times,
Getting to learn about things which are untrue is extremely disturbing. There have been WhatsApp messages filled with stories that are assassinating my character. These are being forwarded for weeks in casting directors’ groups denying me work. I’m the only earning member of my family since the age of seven and all these reports in the media are affecting me, my family and my career in more ways than you can imagine.
Madhur added,
I urge everyone to not jump to conclusions about me through these one-sided reports in the media. I have faith in the law and the actual truth shall be out soon.
Background:
A source close to the accuser woman told media that they had common friends, after which he added her on social media. They got close and the actor asked her out. The source quoted:
They were seeing each other for two months. They parted ways and Madhur couldn’t deal with the breakup. He was shooting in Jaipur. Livid, he landed in Mumbai and entered her Bandra residence on February 13th. Unable to take rejection, he tried to force himself on her. He tried to see her again on the 15th, but the girl’s lawyer Niranjani Shetty asked him to leave the premises, and he complied.
Lawyer Shetty told Bombay Times,
That girl was not in a state to talk to me. Her friend reached out to me. She had sustained injuries under the eye, neck and lips. I discovered that she was battered and sexually assaulted. Our concern was her safety, so I sent a letter by post to the police station. I personally went to the Crime Against Women Cell (CAWC). They later called us and the FIR was filed.
Madhur Mittal’s role as Salim, elder brother of Jamal (Dev Patel), won him worldwide attention. In 1997, Madhur won Boogie Woogie and forayed into acting and dancing on stage. As a child actor he worked in Hindi films like One Two Ka Four, Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye, and Say Salaam India. He has also acted in several TV shows including Shaka Laka Boom Boom, Kasauti Zindagi Ki, Jalwa, Chamatkar, Prithviraj Chauhan and Dastak.
Update on the Case As On March 13, 2021:
As reported by Livelaw,
A special women’s court, in Mumbai, granted interim protection from arrest to Mittal till March 26. In his anticipatory bail application Mittal claims that he does not have sensation in his front teeth and does not realise if small cuts are caused on others lips while kissing.
Mittal accuses his ex of being “religiously biased” and attempting to convert him. He accused her of regularly ordering non-vegetarian food in his vegetarian household. Invoking his success, Mittal states that he is “well known actor” and the complainant only a model and struggling actor.
