A man from Punjab ended his life at his in-laws’s residence by swallowing a poisonous substance after alleged ill-treatment meted out to him by his wife’s family.
Case:
According to SHO Killa Lal Singh Harmik Singh, the deceased, Sarvinder Singh, son of Kulwant Singh, was a resident of Arjechakka who married to Kuljeet Kaur, daughter of Pritam Singh, a resident of Umarwal, three-years ago.
Kulwant Singh informed police that his son and daughter-in-law were not on good terms. The wife would never listen to her husband in any matter. Further, the deceased husband’s father alleged Sarvinder’s mother-in-law, brother-in-law, along with his wife’s two brothers-in-law, and their fathers visited their house on January 22, 2021.
They took his son’s wife Kuljeet with them to their house and threatened the deceased’s family not to visit
their home to bring her back. Reacting to the incident, Sarvinder went to his in-laws’ house on his motorcycle and swallowed poison there itself.
After trying to end his life, husband himself contacted his uncle Hardeep Singh informing him about the same, post which, he was rushed to a Civil hospital where he breathed his last.
The SHO informed media that based on the statements of Kulwant Singh, the Killa Lal Singh police has registered a case against victim’s wife, his mother-in-law, wife’s brothers-in-law and their father, under IPC Section 306 and 149.
