Woman Booked For Eloping & Marrying Lover Without Legal Divorce From First Husband

Punjab police has registered a case against a woman, who got married to another man, without obtaining a divorce from her first husband legally. The woman is also a mother to two children.

Case:

As informed by Assistant Sub-inspector Gurnam Singh, complainant Jatinder Singh, son of Mohan Singh, a resident of Bhagokawan village got married to accused Jasbir Singh, daughter of Rajinder Kaur, a resident of Kathiyali, on November 11, 2010.

However, after exactly ten years into the marriage, Jasbir eloped with her lover Gurvinder Singh, son of Jaspal Singh, a resident of Bahlolpur on November 21, 2020. The duo also tied the knot without the woman formally being divorced from her first husband.

Subsequently, Jatinder registered a complaint against Jasbir and Gurvindar under Section 420 and 494 at the Dorangle police station, however, nobody has been arrested yet.

In another story from Ludhiana, a woman, identified as Rani alias Anjali, had been booked for marrying a 20-year-old boy, identified as Jagveer, despite the woman being already married before. The complaint had been registered based on Jagveer’s mother, Narinderpal Kaur.

Kaur in the FIR mentioned that the accused woman allegedly trapped her son and solemnised the marriage on November 5, 2019, when Jagveer was only 20-years-old. Later, the woman also played victim card by filing a harassment complaint against her mother-in-law just after the marriage.

The mother also became aware that Rani was already married and had not divorced her first husband. The woman had been booked for presenting false documents before the court and solemnising a second marriage without ending the first. While Jagveer was booked for marrying at the age of 20.
