The CBI on Monday has arrested the wife of a junior engineer in the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department who has been accused and nabbed earlier for alleged sexual exploitation of children.
Durgawati, the wife of accused Ram Bhuvan Yadav, was taken into custody and produced before a competent court yesterday.
While the investigating agency is yet to give a formal reason for Durgawati’s arrest, media sources have indicated that she was allegedly influencing witnesses in the case. The CBI applied for her remand, however, the court has fixed the next hearing date as January 4, 2021. After this, the accused woman was sent to jail.
About the Case
Yadav allegedly exploited about 50 children, all males aged between 5-16 years, in the districts of Chitrakoot, Banda and Hamirpur for over a decade and sold the recordings of his nefarious activities on dark web. Last month, he was arrested from Banda by the CBI specialising in ‘Online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Prevention/ Investigation’ (OCSAE).
During searches, the CBI recovered eight mobile phones, Rs 8 lakh cash, sex toys, laptop and other gadgets from him.
Yadav was suspended by the UP government after his arrest. The accused used to buy the children’s silence using cash and gifts of electronic gadgets such as mobile phones.

The modus operandi adopted by the accused man helped him stay away from the radar of investigating agencies. A newly established special CBI unit, which is handling online child sexual abuse, started tracking and apprehending paedophiles operating on the internet and busted his alleged activities after trailing him for days.
CBI Press Information Officer R K Gaur then quoted:
Apart from the physical abuse of these children, the accused also allegedly recorded their acts using their mobile phones, laptops and other electronic devices. It was further alleged that these photographs and video films containing child sexual abuse material were published and transmitted by the accused using the internet.
Crime has no gender and the culprits must be convicted as per law.
