The feeling of enviousness and loneliness turned a 12-year-old girl from Mumbai into an extortionist to discipline her parents. The minor threatened her father to kill his entire family. Here’s what happened.
The girl allegedly started sending emails to her father as she was annoyed with her parents who paid more attention to her 4-year-old sibling. The crime branch has not arrested her since she is a minor.
The emails sent by the girl to her father allegedly focuses on threatening to assassin the entire family of the man, who works as a Chartered accountant with a multinational bank in China. On July 18, the man decided to report the matter to the police. He went to the Borivali police and alleged that he had received three threatening emails from China.
Minor Posed Threat Of Murder
In all her three emails, the girl demanded money, and if not provided she would kill the family. The first email asked for Rs 1 lakh. The second email talked about more money and the way to pay it. An official said,
In a subsequent communication, the sender upped the extortion amount to 12 million (Rs. 1.2 crore) and threatened to kill the complainant and his wife and their two daughters.
The sender in the second email wrote,
Sorry, you will have to give us 12 million… You can pay money online or by Amazon or Paytm. Our men are in Mumbai, they will come and kill everybody in your house.

The third email was quite serious as the matter then had reached Borivali police by now, and the sender had written that he/she would kill the entire family of the CA, as the man reported the matter to the officials. However, in this third email, police suspected that the blackmailer was not a professional, and someone who was doing this for the first time — as he/she had not mentioned the currency in which the money was to be paid.
Later, when the case was transferred to the crime branch, they used technical analysis to locate the sender. An official of the Crime branch unit stated,
The sender claimed he was a Chinese national who knew all the family members of the complainant and demanded payment of Rs 1 lakh. The mails were sent from different IDs.
After the investigation, the police had found that the sender’s email was created on the CA’s IP address itself. The cops then started questioning the family, and they grew suspicious of the girl. According to TOI report, the minor’s answers seemed vague to them. An official said,
Our probe found that the mobile phone in question was being used by the banker’s 12-year-old daughter. We spoke to her in the presence of her parents on the issue and she admitted she sent the emails.

The official further continued by telling what the girl used to think about her parents. He said,
She told us she was under the impression that her parents were not giving her attention and they loved her four-year-old sister more.
As reported by livemint, the girl also alleged that her parents often scolded her, and she believed some threatening emails would get her father and mother arrested.
Dr. Yusuf Matcheswalla talked about this incident and how children should be treated. According to the Doctor, the girl will now have to be handled with care and love, as well as, the parents, who will be in much distress, might also need counseling. The doctor quoted,
Most children are internet-savvy with easy access to social media. In this case, it seems that the child is experiencing a sibling jealousy. Her parents need to handle her with care. All the family members need to undergo counseling and find the cause of the problem.
Any child (a minor) can be prone to making mistakes. When the same is done by a girl child we would investigate the matter and give her proper counseling. As a reverse, whenever any news of crime by boy child comes to the fore, gender biased media would attack the minor even before the investigation has begun. This is how #BoisLockerRoom had unfolded, where later Delhi police confirmed it was a girl — posing as a man — posting fake rape threats.
