Amid the outrage due to chaos over “Bois Locker Room”- an Instagram group where youngsters shared their obscene images and discussed gang-raping underage girls, another shocking incident was reported from Gururgram where a 17-year-old boy allegedly died of suicide by jumping off the 11th floor of his residential building on Monday night. The minor boy ended his life after a girl put out a social medial post accusing him of molestation. The police confirmed the incident on Tuesday.
Reportedly, a close friend of deceased teenager witnessed the suicide but he didn’t report it. The incident took place within the limits of Sector 53 Police Station. SHO Deepak Kumar said that a thud sound was heard by the society guards when the boy fell from the higher floor. They rushed to inspect what had happened and found the boy soaked in blood. At around 11:30, the boy’s family members were alerted. They rushed the bleeding boy to a hospital for administering medical care, however, the medics there pronounced him dead.

After the untimely death of teenager, his elder brother has put out a detailed instagram post yesterday. The boy has expressed how circumstances compelled his brother to take such a drastic step. He also urged that his innocent brother should not be held guilty for a crime he did not commit.
The boy confirmed that this incident has nothing to do with the ‘Bois Locker Room’ case (while there is no official confirmation from the police authorities as yet). He captioned his post as below:
XXX WAS NOT A RAPIST. HE DIDN’T DESERVE TO DIE
The elder brother mentioned how the deceased was unable to handle the tremendous pressure after the story of the girl who falsely accused him of rape and molestation went viral on social media and the minor impulsively decided to end his life.

The boy wrote, that the social media post which went viral, spoke about an alleged incident that happened two years ago when XXX was about 14 or 15 years old. He claimed that the girl who made the accusations had no proofs for the same.
He also wrote how his brother started receiving threat calls and messages after her story went viral on social media. The victim tried to defend himself in front of the girl and her friends who had accused him. He also tried to convince them that he was innocent and he couldn’t handle the constant threats. The minor boy pleaded that his side of the story should have been heard. The brother quoted,
Defamation on social media can be harmful to the mental health of people. Social media turned my brother into a rapist overnight. Social media declared XXX guilty of the crime he did not even commit. He is not a rapist, please stop calling him that.
The boy asserted,
We as a family stand proof to how devastating a mere story on Instagram can be. XXX was the youngest member of the family and he didn’t deserve to die.

While the involvement of this boy may or may not be related to Bois Locker Room (BLR), the online harassment and humiliation of minor boys should not be encouraged. DCW chief Swati Maliwal instantly ordered enquiry and FIR to be lodged against the minor boys involved in the BLR controversy, without taking into account any repercussions on young minds which needed guidance.
The suicide of XXX seems to be more of a trigger due to ‘Bois Locker Room’ fiasco which went overboard in the Supreme Court of Social Media.
