Twitteratis Troll Journalist Rohini Singh For Hypocrisy On ‘Equality’ In Employment For Women

Rohini Singh, former journalist with news and media portal The Wire, is often in the news herself for her controversial tweets. Someone who often flashes her feminist tag, Rohini has been trolled for her tweet criticising the Rail Ministry for a post they tweeted this morning.

Official handle of Ministry of Railways had published three pictures of women working as coolies on railway platforms in India. Their tweet read,

While the intent of the above tweet was clearly to demonstrate that women were no less than men in any job, Rohini mocked the same by saying,

Men’s Day Out was prompt to ask her,

What’s so shameful @rohini_sgh? Why do u only want reservation for comfortable jobs? Sooner you & likes of Fake Feminists come out of entitlement mode, will only help womenhood at large Kudos to this woman who is not begging/taking Reverse Dowry (Alimony) for survival #Respect

Devang Dave instantly said that Singh was infact hurting the cause of women empowerment. He wrote,

People like you have always hurt the cause of Women Empowerment What is wrong with this tweet ? That women are empowered to work themselves? Need to decide what you want? Weather they should work or not?

To which Rohini responded,

Empowering women or men shouldn’t involve them carrying luggage on their heads. Calling them coolies is even more dehumanising. Clearly you understand neither empowerment nor basic human decency. Also it’s ‘whether’.

Tehseen Poonawala, political activist who supports the Indian National Congress disagreed with Singh and wrote,

I politely disagree on this one @rohini_sgh. Why should a woman not work as a porter if porters are legal ? Women work in concierge and that includes carrying bags or other things.

Manisha Kaushik added,

Behen Equality??? Yahi to chahiye tha. And coolie banna kabse shame ki baat hogyi. You surely don’t treat the ceo’s and janitors with same respect.

All India Mahila Congress also added,

Coolie was the term by British used to describe indentured laborers, and thus became a slur against in low-wage laborers While #WomensDay2020 is around the corner @RailMinIndia is proudly tweeting pictures of women ‘coolies’ carrying bags on their heads.

Devbrata expressed how feminists were only demanding to see women in position that commanded ‘more respect’ allegedly and quoted,

A lady fire fighter is okay, A lady Airforce Pilot is okay, A lady army officer is okay, A lady Ola/Uber driver is okay, But why not- A lady coolie? After all its her choice… Ohh i got it, bcz it is frm Govt Twitter handle that is why it is wrong. Go ahead @rohini_sgh

Seriously, Rohini Singh get a life. Men have been doing this for ages. Dont u even dare to say u never had a coolie or porter’s help at an airport or railway station. At the least, the hotels u check in have attendants taking ur luggage to ur room. Victimhood is ur DNA, woman!

It isn’t a shame when men do same work, but when the same work is done by women, you feel “shame”?

Infact on March 3, Rail Minister Piyush Goyal had also tweeted picture of a lady pushing a trolly of bags at the Station. He then tweeted,

Now this is exactly the problem with some ultra left feminists. They want to talk about equality, however, they want to see equality only in the choicest jobs, which could be limited only to dignified top management categories.

Also, we have never seen Rohini or any other criticiser of the word ‘coolie’ ever raise their voice against basic inhuman treatment towards our male sewage cleaners or when men do the worst of menial jobs. This is exactly the hypocrisy that is not helping the cause of women to be independent and fight for their right.
