Remember 2015 Sonam Kapoor starrer ‘Dolly Ki Doli’? Most of us would have laughed each time a man got conned in the movie by his bride. Some even mocked the concept as ‘tit for tat’ on Men who are labelled as serial wife beaters and monsters.
Well, if you thought that the storyline in that Bollywood potboiler was a bit too imaginary, read one such case below from Punjab. Mind you, this is just one case while we come across several cases on a daily basis where women have married multiple times and trapped men for money.
Case:
- Jagdeep Singh lives in Samla village of Nabha in Punjab
- He married Manpreet Kaur, who hails from Dakauli village in Derabassi in 2018
- Immediately after 15-days of marriage, the couple quarrelled and the wife left for her maternal home
- Not just this, after returning she also filed a complaint of harassment against her husband
- However, the matter was resolved after she settled with Rs 1 lakh
- Post this episode, Jagdeep investigated the matter and shockingly discovered that Manpreet had changed her name thrice on earlier occasions when she married three different men
- She had similarly blackmailed all previous husbands and had minted lakhs of rupees from each one of them
- Jagdeep later lodged a complaint with the SSP and after investigation, the police registered a case of robbery against wife Manpreet, her brother Kala Singh, mother Baljit Kaair and father Bir Singh

Woman Burns Husband Alive Because She Hated His Dark Complexion
Background:
- Jagdeep was also a divorcee with a son from first wife, however, his family had categorically mentioned about his earlier status before marriage to Manpreet
- On the other hand, Manpreet’s parents had disclosed that their daughter too had been divorced once and had one daughter from previous alliance
- Prior to the marriage, Manpreet had assured that she would love Jagdeep’s son like her own
- Both of them got married in Gurdwara Sahib in the presence of some relatives, however, within just 15 days of marriage, Manpreet started throwing tantrums saying she could not live in the village-countryside
- Jagdeep also found out later that Manpreet had two children and not one
- She had also trapped her previous husband who lived in Sirhind in Punjab, where the family had to sell off their land to settle the matter with Manpreet, by paying her Rs 3.5 Lakhs

Woman Plays Gender Card | Threatens Suicide Over Challan | Officers Let Her Go After 20-Min Drama
Our Take:
- The fact that some women can marry and remarry infinite times, shows how one-sided and flawed our divorce system is
- Can you think of men actually even divorcing their first wife unless she willingly agrees?
- The system fails us time and again, where the woman’s family is able to escape the law of the land and openly strategises marriage after marriage without an iota of fear
- In earlier times, we heard tales of fathers who cried and sobbed due to the regressive practice of Dowry
- However, today fathers, mothers, brothers – entire family is not shying away using their own girl as a means for making illicit money
- You will never hear any feminist groups raising their voice against such women, as they prefer to look the other way when called out
- The myth of Gender Equality by such biased women was never about achieving a balance in society, but always about having an upper hand by hook or by crook
