32-Year-Old Man Dies By Suicide Blaming Wife, Her Family

As per a recent news report published by eenadu.net, a man died by suicide blaming his wife in his last letter. The incident has been reported from Rompicherla in the Chittor district of Andhra Pradesh.

Case:

32-year-old Ramakrishna Rao was married to a woman from Muppalla village. Due to frequent fights between the couple, the wife moved out of their home and later filed police complaint against her husband and his family.

Ramakrishna Rao got a call from police station asking him and his family to report for questioning. Later at night, husband wrote a suicide note blaming his wife and ended his life. His body was recovered by his family next morning and subsequently the officials were informed.

A case has been registered against wife and her family, following a complaint by the father of the deceased.

• We have always maintained that laws are essential in matrimonial disputes, however, criminalising of matrimonial laws have only made things worse for the husband
• Already our laws are heavily rested in favour of women and when there is involvement of police in personal matters, the man and his family virtually have no say
• FIRs and complaints are registered against men on mere word of wives, leaving husbands and their families to run around for securing bail
• Government of India must re-look at all these age old laws, and design equal parameters for both parties to secure divorce and justice fairly
