A teenager in Noida allegedly died of suicide by jumping off the 19th floor of her housing society. The student of class 10, the girl belonged to a reputed school in Noida.
The incident took place in the early hours of September 30, 2020.
Case Details:
The girl lived with her mother and a domestic staff member in an apartment of Gardenia Glory Society, Sector 46, Noida. According to police, her parents had separated six months ago. Her mother is a lawyer while her father, a doctor, lives and practices in Africa.
All members of the household were asleep when she took the extreme step during the early hours of Wednesday morning. CCTV camera traced the girl’s steps which clearly showed her walking up the stairs to the terrace of her building.
Guards of the building rushed to the location of the incident as soon as they heard ‘a loud thud’ at 5:30 am on September 30. The girl was found lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Her family was immediately informed. The girl’s maternal grandparents also stay in the same society. She was the only child of her parents.
The grandfather informed that the girl seemed fine to them and had even taken a walk in her society a day before. She was a bright student. As per her family’s statement, she was studying late till 1 am the night before. The members of her society, her neighbours remember her as a lively person who was very active in everyday activities.
Investigation
The police suspect her to be on a phone chat conversation with someone after which the incident happened. Azad Singh Tomar, the SHO has told that they were getting into the details of the girls mobile phone and call records. As reported by TOI, Tomar said,
We are scanning three mobile phones. The call records would be examined to get clues on the possible reason behind her suicide. The girl’s tablet, which she used for online classes, has also been seized.
Another police officer confirmed that the young girl was very close to her father and exchanged messages with him on whatsapp several times in a day.
