Woman Hacks Father-in-Law To Death With Axe After Heated Words Of Exchange

In a shocking incident reported from the state of Odisha, an elderly man was hacked to death allegedly by his daughter-in-law following a family dispute. On Tuesday, the accused woman murdered her father-in-law following a heated exchange of words in the Jajpur district the previous day.

Case:

Paban Hati (63) had a heated exchange of words with daughter-in-law Rupa Hati at their paddy field on Monday morning, an officer said. After the altercation, the woman returned to their house at Ranapal village in Panikoili police station area and asked her husband to drop her at her father’s residence. Her husband Utkal somehow managed to calm Rupa Hati down, he said.

However, matters took an ugly turn at night when Rupa Hati picked up another quarrel with her father-in-law. In a fit of rage, she attacked him with an axe, killing him on the spot, the officer said. As reported by Odisha TV, Utkal said,

I tried my best to convince Rupa to keep cool and went to the market. But it was beyond my thoughts that she could go to the extent of killing my father.

Police Investigation

Panikoili police station inspector Sunil Nayak said that the accused woman fled from the spot after allegedly committing the crime, which occurred while her husband was not in the house. A complaint has been lodged and the body sent for post-mortem. An investigation is underway and a manhunt has been launched to nab the accused, the inspector added.

As reported by The New Indian Express, Nayak said,

We seized the body and sent it to the district headquarters hospital for postmortem. A scientific team has been roped in for investigation and search is on to nab the accused who is absconding. We have seized the weapon used in the crime.
