Not just urban cities, but people in rural areas in India too have truly moved ahead of times. Or maybe we are just being too conservative!
An extremely bizarre case has been reported by Budaun in Uttar Pradesh where a husband filed RTI to find his missing wife, and then this is what he found out.
Here’s What Happened
A 22-year-old man, through the help of Right to Information Act (RTI), discovered that his father was actually married to his estranged wife.
The man was married to one girl in 2016, when both of them were minors. After 6-months in the marriage, the couple separated due to domestic disputes. Through the RTI act, the husband found out that his wife had run away from the family and was living somewhere else.
According to TOI, the man earlier wanted to reconcile with his wife but she insisted on a divorce. It was then he filed an RTI as he was suspicious about the situation.
He was in for a rather rude shock when he got to know that his estranged wife had actually fallen in love with his father and they got married. They were living in the state’s Sambhal town. The father of this young man is a 48-years-old sanitation worker and the couple also has a two-year-old son.
After the man learnt about this, he lodged a complaint against the couple at the Bisauli police station. Sub-Inspector Rajendra Prasad told media,
The son filed an RTI at District Panchayati Raj Office to collect information about his father and found the latter had married his own estranged wife. He filed the RTI after his father stopped giving him money and was living separately in Sambhal.
As of now, the matter is still under investigation. However, the police stated that this is a case of ‘matrimonial discord’. They did not find any documents supporting the first marriage as it was between two minors. Also, the wife now claims that she is very happy in her new marriage.
*MDO does not support or encourage marriage between minors.
