Men’s Rights Activists Call Out Sona Mohapatra’s Selective #MeToo Outrage & Fake ‘Befitting Replies’ Campaign

Often we come across several portals splashing the headline “Befitting Reply By XYZ” to “trolls”. Often these XYZ are none other than those who are more in news with social media publicity, rather than the real work for which Twitter has probably verified their handles! And PR Portals generally label non-verified twitter handles – who may be genuinely posing the right questions and also getting larger support Vs XYZ – as “Trolls”.

Yesterday once again, a number of portals promptly published articles with some eyeball grabbing headlines. Some of them read as follows:

1. Sona Mohapatra Asked If Her Tweets Were A #MeToo Campaign Against Utsav Chakraborty Or Personal Experience; Singer Calls Bull****

2. Angry Sona Mohapatra replies trollers ‘Keep your rubbish with you’

3. Sona Mohapatra asked if her tweet against Utsav Chakraborty was part of MeToo campaign or an opinion, see her reply

4. Sona Mohapatra Gives Befitting Reply To Tweet On Comedian Utsav Chakraborty

Well, you would have realised that the discussion is about some tweet to which Sona Mohapatra would have replied to. For the ones, who still question “Who is Sona Mohapatra whose befitting replies keep getting published by a popular news app on our mobiles”….Her twitter bio reads as “Free, Sapiosexual, Politically incorrect & proud Alpha-female | Lal Pari Mastani | Concert”.

Yesterday’s articles were about Mohapatra’s reply when Men’s Day Out posed a question to her whether she “personally” knew Comedian Utsav Chakraborty, who she had named and shamed during 2018 #MeToo.

What Is The Definition Of Befitting Replies?

Now, here are some hard facts. Twitter handle of Sona Mohapatra has 161.5k followers (as on Dec 17, 2020) and her tweet dated Dec 15 got 6 RTs, 14 Likes and 14 replies. MDO had a glance over the 14 replies and to our shock, every single reply questioned her instead of supporting her ‘befitting response’ to MDO.

Sona also kept retweeting her own tweets to garner more traction in her support from her lakhs of followers.

But naturally, none of the portals who published her “Befitting Reply” cared to check on the same. Infact, one portal named Spoteye even almost copy pasted…. “He (Sona) is always seen in headlines for his statements” (this now stands deleted from the article).

Thx to me & @MensDayOutIndia , @sonamohapatra paid PR team managed to get some articles published & get her in news somehow. Scripted story sent to all. But then one ended up writing “he is always seen in healdlines for his statements”

Once again with 161.5 Lakh followers the above retort by Sona got 0 RTs and merely 8 likes. All comments below this tweet were once again not by any of her followers.

Possibly annoyed with the counter questions Sona was facing, she this time chose to use the name of departed soul Nirbhaya and strike a controversy with independent journalist Deepika Bhardwaj.

From the 6 RTs and 44 responses she got on this tweet, almost all were once again opposing her. Also, one of her own supporters wrote the below:

i used to admire you but using Nirbhaya case to score a personal point in personal argument is just pathetic.. not expected! you could have easily given statistics about women crime for such arguments instead of playing a victim card

Now here’s where it all actually started…….that possibly triggered Mohapatra!

On December 10, Sona took pot shot at Music Director Vishal Dadlani for not calling out former Indian Idol colleague and #MeToo Accused Anu Malik. She quoted:

What is right is often forgotten by what is convenience.” Dadlani’s heart bleeds for Rhea Chakraborty & None of this justice bent came into play for Vishal when endless women called out his #IndianIdol colleague Anu Malik. @IndiaMeToo #WontBeForgotten #India #WillRemember

Men’s Day Out called out her selective outrage over the music director, while she had been completely mum on another alleged sexual predator Anurag Kashyap, whose next Netflix release #AKVsAKTrailer is already out. MDO questioned the #MeTooIndia crusader, if she had missed out on publicly naming Kashyap and that she must ensure he is out of work too, if she honestly stood for the rights of sexually abused women.

Expectedly, Sona gave our tweet a miss on this day.

On December 14, Bhardwaj shared a tweet on Actor Vijay Raaz who has been terminated from his film over molestation charges, and questioned why Kashyap who is charged for rape had not been arrested since months.

We once again took the opportunity and cc’d Bhardwaj’s tweet to the #MeToo Crusader in case she missed our Dec 10 question.

Once again, Sona ignored…Subsequently, when Bhardwaj’s posed the Kashyap’s question again to Mohapatra, MeToo campaigner was almost compelled to reply this time. Someone who has always asked all to #BelieveAllWomen, gave it a subjective and personal spin this time. She wrote,

And then this is how Men’s Rights Activists have responded to Sona’s selective outrage giving a clean chit to Kashyap.
