A video of a husband pleading for help has gone viral on Facebook. The man is question is none other than Major Deepak Dhawan, the former Deputy Director of Sainik Welfare Board Solan. Dhawan has narrated his entire ordeal of how despite being the sole provider and comforter for his family, it is him who is wandering on the roads due to false cases by his wife.
In the video, the commando is seen crying bitterly, and questioning the Gender Biased Laws, which on mere allegations by his wife, has made his life hell.
Major starts the video by sharing how he started his stint with the Army at the age of seventeen and served the force for more than two decades. He got retired in 2015 after being partially disabled.
His Story
Major Dhawan got married to a woman from Nahan (Himachal Pradesh) in 2008. Together they have two sons. The army man has lived his entire life in bunkers and tents, serving in the border areas and got retired in 2015.
He invested all his savings in making a comfortable home for family, jewellery for wife and investing towards education of his children. Dhawan lost both his parents in 2018.
The man alleges how his wife used to pick up food from the Army canteen and give it to her mother, which Dhawan had objected to. She also maintained a separate bank account and Dhawan had questioned her on her source of income in that account. When the commando explained to his wife that it will be difficult for him to now take care of her mother as well as brother, is when the problems began for him.

In March 2019, the wife registered a complaint of Dowry Harassment (after 12-years of marriage) against Dhawan. She has also slammed cases of Domestic Violence on him and as on date there are five cases running parallely on the husband.
The woman has allegedly also written several letters to his department alleging that he is a corrupt officer. Dhawan states that she also got the safe cut open and has withdrawn every single jewellery that he had bought for her. The wife too has accepted the same in women’s cell, which has been passed off as Streedhan (wealth received by the women from her father, mother or husband).
Dhawan cries his heart out and says,
I swear on God, my children, my dead parents and my country – I have not taken even a single spoon from her family. This is my third car and she has alleged that I am demanding a vehicle from her and her family.
How am I doing any domestic violence on her?

The army man further says that he respects all women and doesn’t say that everyone is like this. However, the government has made all laws only in favour of women. Be it police, Women’s cell and even courts – they take direct action without even a basic investigation. He adds,
My wife told court I molest her publicly. Women can go and say anything and they are believed completely.
He pleads to Modi government to urgently look into such heavily lopsided laws which are leaving men to die. Infact, Dhawan himself tried unsuccessfully, to end his life in August last year.
Adding further, Major says,
I have made her a comfortable home where she is living with the best of ease, whereas I am the one who is thrown out from my own residence. I have been rendered wandering, eating and sleeping at different dhaabas (roadside eateries) on Nahan Mall road.
I took care of the welfare for several Sainiks (army men) throughout my life, but who is there to take care of my welfare?

With regards to children, Dhawan says he is not even allowed to see them. His wife has strictly kept them away from any relatives on the paternal side and they don’t even know that there is anyone like dada dadi (grandparents) who existed or chacha chachi (paternal uncle aunt) that they should meet.
He cries for help saying he has written several letters to the SP in his area, but not once he has been called for a meeting to explain his side. However, the police is prompt in turning up even if his wife calls them up just once. Dhawan ends the video by saying,
Till when will I keep fighting these false cases? Where should I bang my head? Please Help Me Out, Please Help Me Out…
