A Judge in Patna High Court advised a man to forget his wife after she eloped with her lover last year during lockdown. The judge further said that since the wife had left, the man should start looking for another one as she did not belong to him anymore.
Case:
25-year-old Nagendra Kumar Jaiswal married Tanya alias Madhu on November 30, 2017. Thereafter, Tanya moved to Nanpur with her husband and in-laws.
Before getting married, the woman was preparing for a competitive exam while living at a girls’ hostel in Patna. Soon after their marriage, the wife expressed her desire to continue her studies. Jaiswal, without any resistance, enrolled her in Trimohan college of Kalidas Surya Dev University, at Darbhanga.
Senior Advocate YC Verma representing the husband read the entire FIR in detail and informed court that the woman moved to her maternal home and started staying at her uncle’s place since April 22 last year. However, on May 23, she suddenly disappeared from there and when Jaiswal tried contacting her numerous times, her phone was constantly switched off.

The husband then approached the cops and discovered something strange while they were checking her call details. The police learnt that while Tanya used to study in Patna, she was frequently in touch with an unknown person. It seemed she used to often talk on phone with this man.
When the cops traced the unknown number, it belonged to someone named Rajesh Kumar. According to the husband, his wife had eloped with Kumar.
Patna High Court
Judge PK Jha went through the remarks made by counsel of the man and in a sarcastic way told him,
Married people are not safe from you as well, as you have also been accused of eloping with other’s wife.
To this the advocate replied,
The truth is that nobody dislikes checking out other’s wife. Some check out directly, while some secretly.
The people present at the court laughed at this conversation, while Rajesh Kumar was granted bail for eloping with Tanya.
