A shocking incident has been reported from Geeta Colony in Jalandhar, Punjab. A man who went to visit his in-law’s house to bring back his wife, was allegedly beaten and burnt to death on the midnight of January 20.
Case:
Deepak, the deceased, was admitted to a hospital in a critical condition after being allegedly burnt by his in-laws. However, the victim gave his statement before breathing his last. He alleged that his wife had called him to come over to her place, which is when he was attacked and then set on fire.
The wife’s family, on the other hand, denied the charges made against them and blamed Deepak instead, of setting himself on fire. Both families reached the Bhargav camp police station and the cops have started their investigation.
Allegations By Deceased’s Mother
Kanta Devi, a resident of Kashi Nagar, alleged that a month ago, her son Deepak had a court marriage with a woman living in the same neighbourhood. The wife stayed with her son only for a few days and then left for her maternal home. The woman would contact her husband once in a while, however, she stopped all communication and even blocked Deepak’s mobile number.
On the night of the incident, the wife’s maternal uncle called the victim to meet them. Husband left home informing his family that he was going to bring back their daughter-in-law. However, when the man did not return home for a long time, the mother went looking for him.
Kanta Devi was shocked to find her son near Kot Sadiq in a completely burnt condition. He was then rushed to a private hospital for treatment since he was already in a critical condition, however, Deepak died on January 21.
Victim’s Dying Statement
The deceased husband recorded his statement in a video in that critical condition before his death. The husband confirmed in the video that he was called by his wife, after which he was beaten and eventually set on fire.
