Case:
The chargesheet was filed on January 29, 2021 against which a Protest Petition u/s 173(8) CRPC was filed by the counsel representing Manav on February 19, 2021, stating glaring deficiencies of the police inquest.
In the latest hearing before the juvenile court on March 24, 2021, the police have been directed to file their final reply by April 06, 2021.
Manav’s father Manoj Kumar alleges lapses in police investigation despite several follow ups by themselves as well as their counsel Amish Aggarwala. Father further states that details of whatsapp, instagram, snapchat, other social media have still not been produced. He quotes:
All that can be said at this moment is that we are hopeful, that court will see the extremely glaring way in which the chargesheet was compiled, which only makes it easier for the accused persons to get a discharge. We will be putting our contentions with utmost fervour in pursuit of justice for Manav Singh.
As reported by TOI, Advocate Vishal Gupta representing the girls said that his clients were victims instead and the case was thrust upon the girls.
Background:
17-year-old Manav Singh died by suicide on May 4, 2020 during the ongoing Bois Locker Room controversy. However, this case is not linked to BLR, but a separate case where a minor girl named Manav in a #MeToo post on her instagram account. Soon, a gang of people including the minor girl’s friend (another girl) allegedly started social media bashing and defamation of Manav Singh. Due to immense trolling, the minor boy ended his life within 2-hours of the instagram post.
The incident narrated by the girl allegedly took place two-years ago. Watch detailed interview with Manav Singh’s father below.

I hope the girl repents, judicially and emotionally. I hope she bears the guilt of someone’s death for her lifetime. I hope she gets a strong action so that no other girl dares to do this again
