Faizal Siddiqui Tik Tok Controversy | Criminal Complaint Filed Against Woman Too

National Commission for women Rekha Sharma had written to Maharashtra DGP and to TikTok India on Monday to remove a video of TikToker Faizal Siddiqui who was seen promoting acid attack in an act.

Although Siddiqui’s video was removed on the same day after Sharma’s intervention, social media users demanded equal action against the girl who enacted in the atrocious video as well. Men’s Day Out too has questioned the same quoting,

Subsequently, Mumbai based advocate Chandni Shah filed a criminal complaint against make up artist Faby who was an equal party to the act. Shah wrote,

Filed a complaint against the female make up artist in the tiktok video of #FaizalSiddiqui for promoting hate crime of throwing acid as revenge. She is known as Faby_makeupartist on her social media handles. #BanTikTokInIndia @MumbaiPolice

Shah’s complaint reads as follows:

Came across a Tik Tok video made by Team Nawab member Faizal Siddiqui. Wherein, in this video ‘acid attack’ as a mode of revenge is being promoted and is given out a completely wrong message. In the video, the girl acting as a victim is also as much responsible as the male, for giving a free hand to such unlawful acts to be promoted.

The handle of the female on Twitter and Instagram goes by the name Faby_Makeupartist. Any such videos or acts which are done in the light of promoting a hate crime also comes under criminal act. I request Mumbai police to take action against the female in the video. A complaint against Faizal Siddiqui has already been registered. Request Mumbai police to act under various sections of the IPC 505 505(1) and other relevant sections as deem fit.

Interestingly Faby had previously taken up Deepika Padukone’s ‘Chhapaak’ challenge in January this year and applied make-up like that of an acid-attack survivor.

During the promotion of ‘Chhapaak’, Faby was in conversation with Deepika Padukone, when the actress asked the make-up artist to recreate her ‘Om Shanti Om’, ‘Piku’ and ‘Chhapaak’ looks. Faby obliged for the same and had recreated the look of acid-attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, who Deepika portrayed in ‘Chhapaak’.

After the controversy, another TikTok video surfaced in which two young boys, appearing juveniles, are seen glorifying rape, while a girl is acting as the victim. NCW chief said the social media platform must be banned for the irresponsible behaviour it was encouraging and for complete disregard for the nature of content being peddled through TikTok.

Rekha Sharma said TikTok India said she would write to the Government with this demand. She quoted,

I am of the strong opinion that this @TikTok_IN should be banned totally and will be writing to GOI. It not only has these objectionable videos but also pushing youngsters towards unproductive life where they are living only for few followers and even dying when the numbers decline.

While Men’s Day Out fully backs regulating any social media platforms that promote acts against the law of the land, both genders, either man or woman who are found violating the same, must be equally punished.
