Jaihind is the AAP’s convenor for Haryana and was the face of the party in the 2019 Vidhan Sabha elections in the state. He has been associated with AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal since the latter’s India Against Corruption days. Jaihind was a part of the core committee of the Anna Hazare-led movement and played a key role in drafting the Jan Lokpal bill. On December 15, 2019 Naveen had tweeted,
Swati is a lioness, she is not dead but manly. You can awaken sleeping people but she is set to awaken the dead. One has to stay alive to fight a war. She has been on a hunger strike for 13 days to get rapists hanged, if she dies no one will even remember these 13 days.

Swati Maliwal was appointed as the chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women in 2015 under the AAP government. At the time, her appointment was criticised due to her young age and the fact that her husband was in the party.

The couple hit the headlines in 2018 when Maliwal condemned her husband’s controversial remark on women. Naveen Jaihind had said that he will give Rs 20 lakh to any Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader who gets sexually assaulted by ten people.
DCW was caught instigating women to file false cases in court. In March 2018, Additional Sessions Judge Arun Grover Baliga of Delhi court had given advice to the women’s rights body when an alleged rape victim in her deposition before the court said that “she had mentioned the allegations of rape in her complaint [to the police] only on the advice of the NGO counsellor at Sarojini Nagar police station”. The judge then said,
Before parting with this case, this court finds it necessary to direct that a copy of this judgment be sent to the DCW to bring to its notice the conduct of the counsellor at the police station.
This court has no doubt in its mind that the statement made by the prosecutrix today on oath that she had made allegations of rape in her complaint only on the advice of the counsellor present at the police station, is true and correct.

Men’s Rights Activists took to twitter responding to Swati’s announcement. Here are some of the responses:
Kumar S Ratan who contested Delhi Assembly polls as an independent recently wrote,
You setup an example to give an end the relationship peacefully and w/o a public fight.. The couple should move ahead their way in a friendly manner, so that they can happily move to next session of life.. My respect to you for such a healthy break up, which is rarest in India.
Ram MyNation poured his pain from the men’s point of view by writing,
If divorce per se is so painful, pls. imagine the pain undergone by men who have to face falsehood, deceit, extortion, coercion & blackmail unleashed by women and their clever-by-half lawyers. The least you can do as a leading votary of women’s issues is to fight for for prevention of misuse of laws for ulterior motives and ensure the laws get applied for women who genuinely need them.
All others must be mercilessly dealt with exemplary punishment. There should be a mechanism for filtration of cases/complaints at admission stage itself.
Swarup Sarkar took a dig at DCW chief and expressed,
It was predicted and not a surprises at ALL ! God Luck! Now you are a perfect Liberated Women & perfect privilege to be Head of Women Co-mission! Now understand , why the statement of @RSSOrg pinch you too much , though his statement was Gender neutral !
