Few days ago, a video of a daughter-in-law torturing her husband’s mother physically, went viral on social media. The video was traced back to the Etah district of Uttar Pradesh. In the video the younger woman was seen beating the senior citizen lady and men’s rights activists including other netizens strongly demanded instant action on the accused woman.
The visuals in the video are so horrific where the daughter-in-law is putting a stick in her mother-in-law’s mouth and dragging her on top of the roof. The older lady is seen folding her hands asking for mercy, however, the daughter-in-law’s heart does not budge.
After a while, the accused woman goes inside the house, returns and pours cold water on her mother-in-law’s face on a chilly winter morning. The old lady is constantly seen pleading to her daughter-in-law to spare her from the harassment, yet the same has no effect on the cruel woman. The matter does not end here.
Later the daughter-in-law also drags the old lady from the roof into the home below and the ordeal continues. The video is most likely shot secretly by someone from their neighbourhood who later uploaded the same on social media. Several people tweeted the video and demanded instant action from the police officers.
Background
75-year-old Guddo lived with her son Mukesh’s wife Jyoti in Etah, while the man was working in Delhi. The couple also has a two-year-old daughter. It is alleged that Jyoti used to beat her mother-in-law without any reason only to harass and torture her.
After the video went viral, Mukesh’s brother Mohit, a resident of Jalesar in Etah, filed an official complaint against his sister-in-law Jyoti and brother Mukesh, following which a case has been registered.
Below was one tweet from independent journalist Deepika Bhardwaj asking UP Police to take action against ‘cruel son and daughter-in-law’.
