Faridabad Woman Booked For Murdering Father-in-Law To Grab His Property

In a shocking story reported from Faridabad on Friday, a woman murdered her father-in-law after he repeatedly refused to transfer property in her name.

The police have registered a case in connection with the murder that took place at a colony in Ballabgarh town of the city around midnight two days ago. 

Case:

The victim, Bharat Singh, was living with his elder son Vinod and his wife Geeta, in New Friends Colony. Bharat was murdered by his daughter-in-law who had been allegedly pressuring him to transfer his property in her name since a long time. 

According to a complaint lodged with the police, the victim was fired upon by a gun in his sleep. His death came to light in the morning next day, when the family members found him in a pool of blood around 6am.

Charging Geeta with the murder, Jasoda Devi, wife of the victim, said her husband, who was living with his elder son had been murdered by her daughter-in-law who, she said, had been pressuring him to transfer his property in her name for the past some time. As reported by The Indian Express, Jasoda Devi’s FIR read:

On Thursday night, after attending a prayer meeting to commemorate the death of a family member, my husband and I ate a meal cooked by my daughter-in-law Gita and went to sleep. In the morning, we were unable to locate Gita and she has been missing.

I suspect that she conspired with a friend to murder my husband. In the past, she had threatened him and pressured him to transfer the house either in her name or her children.

Geeta, according to the police, was present at the house, but was missing since the murder. The accused had acquired a country-made revolver yesterday only after making some payment, it was alleged.

A hunt was launched to nab the culprit after registration of a case under Section 302 of the IPC and Sections 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act, said a police official. The police also informed media,

The complainant has stated that the accused Gita had arranged for a gun and given it to an associate to carry out the murder. We have initiated a probe. Prima facie, it appears that the victim was shot in his sleep. The accused may have mixed sleeping pills in his food the previous night.

The exact cause of death will be known after the postmortem. We have also sent viscera samples to the forensic science laboratory.
