Elections are here and so are our politicians playing the Woman Appeasement Card! On Thursday, Congress general secretary and in-charge of the Uttar Pradesh unit, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, announced that if her party is voted to power in Uttar Pradesh, she would provide girls with smartphones and electronic scooty.
Taking to twitter, Priyanka wrote,
I met some students, they said they need smartphones to study and for security. I am happy that with the consent of the manifesto committee, the UP Congress today took a decision to give smartphones to the girls who pass Intermediate and electronic scooty to Bachelor students.
Priyanka also posted a video of a group of school/college girls talking to a reporter. In the video, one of the students can be seen saying that Priyanka enquired if they had phones for clicking selfies. The student said,
We said we neither have phones nor are they allowed in colleges. She then asked us if she should get it announced that girls should get phones and we said what more can we ask for our safety.
Adding further, the young girl said,
She asked us to study hard. I want that she continues to meet and talk to us like this.
Recently, Gandhi announced 40% assembly election tickets to women candidates, what can be seen as a move to woo women voters. She also welcomed women, who want to bring about a change in the system, to come forward and contest polls. While holding a press conference in Lucknow, Priyanka said,
Any woman who wants to contest can give an application till November 15.
Congress MP & Priyanka’s brother Rahul Gandhi too tweeted,
The daughter of the country says – with our hard work, with the strength of education, with proper reservation I can go on and on.

- Ironically, we have also seen women from both left and right wing unite when it comes to more Gender Biased Laws against Men
- If young girls are clearing their XII or Graduating, how are they any different or underprivileged from young boys clearing the same exams?
- Why are special benefits given only to Girls/Women in the name of empowerment?
- Thankfully, social media has given a voice to the Other Side and many people today can see through this over the top sugar coated schemes for women
- Every government is in a rat race to provide freebies to fully-abled equal women – at the cost of tax payer (largely the Men)
- Whenever it comes to Rights (read privileges): Women are Strong & Independent
- Whenever it comes to Duties (read accountability): Women are suffering Patriarchy
- Time for all Men to speak up; Time for all rational thinking Women to reject such policies
