A gang of blackmailers has been on the rise in the city of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The gang would target young boys, lay their trap and subsequently extort money from them. This gang has been held responsible for several male students dying by suicide after they get tricked.
Case:
Satyam Awasthi, a Btech student who had finished his graduation, ended his life on December 14. Satyam had been allegedly deceived by the blackmailers and did not see a way out. Before taking the extreme step, he also left a suicide note on his Facebook account.
Kanpur SP (West) Dr Anil Kumar informed media that the deceased was a resident of Panki, who hanged himself to death, after blaming a girl and three boys responsible for his suicide. The accused have been identified as Ankita Agnihotri, Shubham Kushwaha, Akash Tiwari and Nitin Mishra.

The cops have registered an FIR against all four of them as the gang would trap young boys and then exploit them for money.
Satyam was supposed to supposed to join his new job in Patna on December 22.
Background
Awasthi accused the four in his post stating that they extorted Rupees two lakh from him, and also humiliated him publicly.
Devendra Shukla, the brother of the deceased, informed police that Satyam was dating a girl. The accused boys then clicked his intimate photos with his con girlfriend and started blackmailing him since then. Initially they extorted couple of lakhs and thereafter, demanded Rupees five lakh additionally.
The gang named ‘Panki Gangaganj’ has been notorious for trapping and blackmailing young boys in Kanpur.

Satyam was so scared and frustrated with the constant harassment, that he chose to end his life, however, he did express his feelings in his last Facebook note.
The gang had been blackmailing him for the past two years. He wrote,
I am committing suicide. In the last two years, I’ve given these people Rupees two lakh from my Allahabad bank account. Even after giving so much, they are threatening to kill me. These people are the ones who forced me to end my life. I request the police to punish them. I won’t rest in peace until I get justice.
The cops have arrested one of the accused Nitin, however, the other three are on the run.
