The 19-year-old BPharma student who faked kidnap and rape story 10-days ago died by suicide at her uncle’s home in Ghatkesar on wednesday morning. The girl consumed sleeping pills and when she was rushed to the hospital, she was declared brought dead. The police registered a case and are investigating. The body was sent for autopsy.
Background:
The teenager cooked up the false kidnap and gang rape story to get away from home on February 10. She claimed that she was abducted by an auto driver while returning home following which the police arrested him for questioning. However, after the police learned the false story and later apologized the auto unions of Ghatkesar and Keesara.
In a press conference, the commissioner of Rachakonda said that the police teams had spent two days examining footage from over 100 CCTV cameras between Yamnampet and Annojiguda and found out the girl enacted the kidnap drama. Later, the girl confessed that she was lying.
Auto Driver Interview
Suman TV Telugu also interviewed the auto driver in detail, where the falsely accused man shared what exactly happened on the day of alleged incident. Below are the excerpts in English from the same. You can watch full interview at the end of this article.
Interviewer: Welcome to our channel. Why this society, which would create a ruckus in case of a female victim is silent when the victims are male. For the past ten days, the four auto drivers involved in Ghatkesar incident are not coming out of home due to this situation. These four young men are questioning all the people who demanded their encounter when the victim was a woman and where are they when the actual victims are themselves. We have these four young men with us now, lets ask them about what has happened on 10th of February and what injustice they faced and their current situation.
Interviewer: First among them, what has happened that day Nadham?
Speaker 2: They came at night when we were asleep. My mom asked me to check the door and when I opened it, I saw my cousin along with policemen. Then they asked me to show the auto for enquiry. They took me and made me sit for the whole night. Next day they showed a pic of an auto and I told that is mine. Then they started asking me about van or car I took her in but I was confused about what they were asking. I answered I did not know then they started their duty (beating).
Interviewer: As a matter of fact, the woman, who is a B. Pharmacy student fabricated a story that she boarded his auto. The same story turned the lives of these people’s lives into unimaginable crisis. Their families were in dire situation crying all the time. Did these people ever see her?
Speaker 3: My name is Shiva, I am not an auto driver but a college student. They took me too as I was in Nadham’s auto.
Interviewer: What is your name?
Speaker 4: Ramesh, I am an auto driver too. They took me that night around 1.30 or 2 am for enquiry and made me sit. Then they kept saying that we did everything, but I responded by saying that we didn’t do anything and I slept by 9PM after having dinner. They kept repeating that we took the girl then I said we didn’t and we don’t get scared. Then they made me sit till morning and in the morning they took me and Bhaskar towards LB nagar.
Interviewer: Bhaskar, have you ever seen that girl or spoke with her before?.
Speaker 5: I have never seen her. Not even her photo. I do not know where she boards and de-boards. Many passengers travel by our auto and its difficult to remember all of them. They took us unnecessarily. They came to our house at 2 o clock.
Interviewer: The women in the enquiry claimed that a fight happened over change issue. Did she fight with you?
Speaker 4: Who would fight over one or two rupees. We will leave it if its matter of five rupees or so as we will not be losing much and can’t build buildings with it. Many people travel by our auto daily and this type of issue never happened. Media started spreading rumours that we were involved in few more rape and murder cases.
Speaker 2: They say that we were involved in multiple cases before, where are those victims now? Why aren’t they coming forward?
Speaker 3: They say that we committed four crimes and caught after fifth one. Do they mean that police couldn’t catch us before and caught us now?
Interviewer: How did you feel the night police took you? What was the mental trauma you went through?
Speaker 2: We didn’t feel anything in the night but when they took us out in the morning, we thought we were going to die. If we do not know then we will say that we don’t know. What can we do if they encounter us? My parent’s life would have gone into a turmoil.
Speaker 3: No issue happened over the change. Only me and Nadham were in auto he took 100 and returned 75 rupees. They created it.
Interviewer: Police concluded that the women told lies and if her movements weren’t recorded in CCTV then these people’s lives would have gone through unimaginable turmoil. Post Disha incident, this case too was highlighted, and these guys were not even in a position to talk for two days with tears in eyes. Did your family members came? Did they cry?
Speaker 2: They cried a lot sir. My legs were swollen by that time and they couldn’t stand that sight and started crying. We were dead but came back to life.
Speaker 5: our legs are in very bad shape. What if we were encountered? There are heart patients in my home and who will answer if something happens to them? Media portrayed that we did everything. I got a match and it got cancelled due to this. I was supposed to get 20 lakhs dowry who will give me that? Government or media. I want that match to come back.
Speaker 2: I can’t drive for six months due to my legs. My legs are paining even if I Walk for some time. Will I be able to drive?
Speaker 4: They took us in the name of enquiry and then they beat us on legs and tortured badly. They tried to make us confess forcefully by saying that others agreed, and you too should agree. I said that we didn’t commit anything wrong and how could we confess for something we didn’t do.
Speaker 2: He knows where we were that night, why would he confess? No one confessed.
Speaker 3: They tried to make us confess. Everyone did the same including media.
Interviewer: After checking CCTV from Nampally to Ghatkesar, the truth came to light and these people were able to come out as innocents but the society made them culprits in those three days
Speaker 3: All those people who asked to encounter us where they now and why aren’t they asking to encounter that girl? Just because a girl filed a complaint, they asked to encounter four people now they same girl has fooled the whole country why aren’t people talking about encountering her? We want her to be punished.
Speaker 2: They will believe if a woman says but won’t believe if a man says. What kind of logic is this? They carried out dharnas and strikes demanding to encounter or hang us where are they now?
Interviewer: Did anyone came and spoke with you after coming out as innocents?
Speaker 5: No one came and spoke with us. Our villagers visited and left. The justice we want is to file a case on the woman and media
Speaker 2: The police were not listening to us. At last, one sir took me to ECIL and enquired my movements and then checked CCTV. If that sir didn’t enquire that day, we would have been dead
Interviewer: Do you think police really helped you or troubled you?
Speaker 2: They troubled us because of media and what’s happening outside so they beat us
Speaker 3: They do get pressure from higher officials to enquire us and they did that in their own way.
Interviewer: Can you tell anything about the trauma you went through on that day in police
station?
Speaker 2: What can we say about trauma only our death was left. They showed us our death.
Speaker 4: We said that we can’t tolerate this anymore and asked the police to take us directly to that woman and if she says that we committed this then kill us right there. Our own family will kill us we do something of this sort. Even kids in our village talk about good conduct. But police did not listen to us saying that we committed it and forced us to accept. Then checked by tracking our phones and took nadham with them.
Interviewer: What are you expecting finally.
Speaker 5: I only want to ask media that they showed our pictures as we were culprits and none of us are married and all our potential matches got cancelled due to this. Who is gong to compensate us? How would we able to live without earning.
Interviewer: Did you go out after this incident? Tried driving your auto?
Speaker 5: We were staying in our home only. If We are feeling difficulty to walk then how can we drive?
Speaker 2: We go to hospital, take injection and glucose then come back to and lay. Our legs will pain even if we walk for some time.
Speaker 5: Only we can know the pain we are going through as we are the ones who took the beating.
Interviewer: Do you want to say anything to the girl who accused of rape?
Speaker 2: why did she framed us? We do not even smoke?
Speaker 3: We do not know her we don’t even know her name and yet we were punished. We want her to be punished.
Speaker 4: why is media not showing her photo in the manner they showed our photos after knowing the truth? They just made some scrolling lines and left it but earlier used our photos to get TRPs.
Interviewer: What do you want to tell people who demanded death sentence to you?
Speaker 3: All those people will get to know our pain when they go through the same thing till then no one will understand our pain.
Speaker 5: We want her to be punished or encountered. Even if she goes to jail and after coming back if she points out towards another four people the society will still believe her.
Interviewer: These people are saying that their image is tarnished, and their lives are destroyed because of that girl and they don’t have anyone to support them. All the people who demanded death sentence to use, how will they answer to this?
