A 41-year-old resident of Vaishnodevi area in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has accused his former wife and her relatives of thrashing him when he tried to stop them from taking away their daughters. According to the man, custody of children had been granted to him by court after divorce.
Case:
The complainant father works as a visa consultant, who has filed a report with the Bopal police on Tuesday, reported TOI. He told cops that he had married in 2010 and got divorced in 2019. The couple have two daughters, aged 9 and 4 who are staying with him. As per the complaint, the father said,
On Monday afternoon, when I was at a hospital near Vaishnodevi Circle, I got a call from my mother who informed me that my former wife, her brother and their mother had barged into the house and tried to take away the kids forcibly. I rushed over and found them arguing with my mother over the custody of the kids.
The complainant allegedly reminded them the custody of the children had been decided during the divorce petition. He alleged,
Despite this, my mother-in-law pulled my younger daughter’s hand. When I tried to stop her, the three began abusing and hitting me.
