After Abandoning Just Born Child, Mother Found Living With Girlfriend Post Changing Her Sex

In a recent case reported from Tamil Nadu, police has traced a married woman who had gone missing 3-years-ago from Madurai. However, when the husband learnt about his wife’s update, he was left shocked.

Case:

Saravanan hails from Keelappanangadi in Madurai district. He was married to one Jayasree in 2018 – who lived in his neighbourhood. The couple were blessed with a baby boy in 2019. However, within a few months of the child’s birth, Jayasree left home without telling anyone.

All the relatives and friends searched many places but could not find her. The family also lodged a complaint at the Alankanallur police station and with the Madurai district superintendent of police office. The police thus started searching searching for Jayasree following a complaint lodged by her husband and family.

Husband Approached High Court

Saravanan had also filed an appeal in the Madras High Court Madurai Bench last year, after all efforts to trace his wife had failed for nearly a year. Following instructions from the court, the Madurai district police geared up their search for the missing woman. 

Wife Found Living With Girlfriend

The police recently found out that Jayasree was living in Chennai and also working at a hotel. When the officers rushed to her location, they found out that Jayasree had converted her Gender and was living with her girlfriend.

After leaving her home and abandoning new the born baby, Jayasree moved in with her class 12 school friend Durgadevi. The police subsequently brought both of them to Madurai and informed Jayasree’s husband and her family. 

High Court

Jayasree informed court,

Durgadevi and I fell in love when we were in class 12 at school. Since I wanted to live with Durga Devi, I converted into a transgender. I have taken a house on my own in Chennai and have been staying there and working at a restaurant. I don’t want to go with my husband and family.

The high court ruled in favour of Jayasree and said that since the woman was an adult, she had every right to live the way she wanted. 

MDO is not judgemental about personal choices and sexual preferences of any individual. However, our only contention is when Genders are reversed, Men are not given that freedom or liberty, especially if they abandon their wife and children.
